Mineshaft Crusher

I don't know if there is already this thread out.
But just wondered if the crusher machine in crusher is ever going to get fixed?
For a moment I thought it wouldn't activate in case someone were in that place, so I flew through as
a lerk little did I know and I got crushed... It's really a hassle to keep track on the crusher if it's the one good
way to get to another spot in case sorting is being rushed.
I don't know the point of the crusher, maybe it should only work when the power node is up? Like the robotic
thingy in Repair on Tram.
Tell me what you think?

Kind regards to you peeps out there! :)

The crusher does not need to be "fixed". It is so easy to avoid being crushed it's ridiculous.

If you go to the crusher and it's up, WAIT for it to go down, then go through. Only takes 2 seconds.

Well, Sorting got rushed and I wanted to help from another room and not attack
straight at the marine, thus I would die. Lerk is fast and things happened so fast
the time was short to wait and see for the crusher to make it's move, cuz when
I entered the space it was all clear.
Would have been nice to have a better warning. Like Mowwex said, about having
a sound or something more than just guessing or wait.

It DOES only work when the power node is up. I usually wait in front of the crusher and only go through right after it just went back up.

Timing is all ya need, but why do you want to go through there anyways! It forces you to move in straight lines, the crusher is thing that can potentially slow you down or kill you in a worst case scenario. Not even mentioning there is a much less risky route into Sorting from Crusher...
    • Starting in Crusher
    • Go through the door or through the little ceiling conveyor hole above the door
    • Go through Brew Room
    • Go through the hole in the rockface leading into sorting

Also the BAM, pzzzzclick sound the crusher makes can be heard from quite far away. Just start your timing when you hear it go BAM and the pzzzzclick, you still have 4 seconds before it goes BAM again (6 seconds if you don't count the pzzzzclick :P)

And it stays down for about 2 seconds as well, you could also time your swoop through the crusher based on that.

    Timing is everything!

Being crushed in the crusher is "natural selection"

Hm... really good advice, I can really admit I haven't really thought about the BAM, pzzzclick sound xD
But considering we were under attack from deposit into sorting, no marine close to crusher, I was placed in sorting thought the fastest
way was through the crushing machine... Only got really bummed it killed me :( you know, when rifle, shotgun, dual minigun exo is
screaming loud in your headset it's kind of hard to hear the BAM sound when you move fast as a lerk x3

yes, it always runs regardless of the powernode.

Remember when someone made a thread complaining about the crusher being OP? That one cracked me up.

Well you can't kill it, while it can kill you... Seems a bit one sided if we're talking about balance stats :P

It's an annoyance at most...but it would be far more interesting to have the conveyor belt moving as well

You can get the head of an Onos under the crusher and splatter it.

same with fans in sorting, arent they supposed to turn off when power is destroyed? yet they still stay on all time now

It should turn off with power.

If it does not currently it should.
  • KattcattisKattcattis Join Date: 2013-01-31 Member: 182683Members, Reinforced - Shadow
Yeh, I agree that things should turn off when power is not working, it's a nice little detail :)
Or maybe all shit runs on backup power!! :o
