Cant start NS2

Friend of mine has a starting problem with the game.

When trying to launch Natural selection 2 via steam, steam gives him error saying "application is already running, failed to start the game"

- Game worked just fine yesturday, nothing was installed into computer between yesturday & today.

- No mods installed or even being downloaded.

- Uninstalled ns2, logged out of steam and then logged back & install again, no effect.

- Computer & Steam has been restarted several times, no effect.

- Deleted whole steam config folder, no effect.

- Tried to run NS2.exe & Steam.exe as administrator, no effect.

- Verified game cache via steam, no effect.

- Steam is up to date.

- Any other steam game works FINE.

- Steam uninstalled & installed again, no effect.

Any suggestion is welcome, please help

is it actually running?

This counts for ns2.exe aswell as any launchpad application.

nope, nothing shows up in task manager.

Try deleting the clientregistry.blob file and go from there.

Problem solved.

Friend had issues with google chrome also, so he decided to uninstall & install it again. This operation made NS also work.

Believe it or not

I wonder what kind of connection these two applications had o.o ?

Nothing worked what i listed, he already gave up fixing the game, but the re-installation of the browser got it to work.

Don't get me started on chrome.
It has a neck of destroying a lot of stuff it shouldn't touch aswell as installing in user profiles to bypass installation rights.
