Aimbots and wallhack for NS2

I've read a couple of threads regarding hacking and it seems things haven't changed, of course.

When you read the posts from players who stick up for the hackers, please remember that these are hack users themselves. They do this in spontaneous/collaberated methods on forums and chat discussions to squash the idea that their hack use might be in jeopardy. They will lie through their teeth since it's doesn't hurt to lie spectacularly behind a computer screen.

These hackers are NOT rare in any online gaming. On a crowded night, you can expect to find at least 2-3 amongst a 24 player game using hacks such as aimbots. It's hilarious when when you see an ono using aimbot his devour never misses. There are NS2 hacks available despite what the fellow hack abusers might tell you. One of the most ridiculous defense I heard for hackers was, "It's cool it makes out team win."

When nothing is done about cheating, online games tend to die. NS2 is dying and I can understand why.

For those that play honestly and rely on your raw skills, mad respect for you guys. We don't need hacks to get attention from strangers.

Hopefully every now and then UWE google up some NS2 hacks and download them to take the software apart and keep finding new ways to block that rubbish.

Community-oriented approach is the fastest and most efficient way to deal with it. NS2bans.com and active server admins are the current solutions, and I find that they work very well on the servers I frequent.

VAC and other official anti-cheat tools are shit and will always be shit. You can quote me on that.

I also find it surprising that 300 hours of game time and I haven't come across an actual cheater... but I never fail to see a scrub with less than 10 hours whining about so-and-so cheating. When they aren't. That gets really annoying after awhile, because that mentality is infectious and rubs off on a lot of other players and is frankly an insult to the integrity of others playing the game.

Find a real cheater? Good, record it and send it to the server admin/ns2bans, then disconnect. Why bother sitting in a server for 45 minutes complaining?

Your proof of someone hacking is when their devour never misses? Firstly isn't devour only in combat mods? And second I am not that great of a player but I think landing devour is pretty easy. I've seen some people do crazy stuff with marines with LMG that would suggest aimbot, such as landing 100% bullets on a very erratically moving lerk from a long range, or a lerk who can land every spike on any marine no matter how spastic he moves or what dodge the marine takes. Furthermore, there are in fact some skilled players who COULD do the things I listed without any hacks, so its pretty difficult to tell when someone is using them. The only thing I have been able to prove is wall hacks, where a player can see enemies through walls, and is not very good at hiding that they can see through walls.

I have some bad news for you...

Just 'cause someone is better than you, doesn't mean they are a hacker.

    Hacker! :p

Seriously, I have encountered one certain hacker, a few script users and have been called a hacker myself several times (even though I'm not a very good shot) in my 300h of gaming time. I'm not saying hacks don't exist in NS2, I'm only saying that they don't bother me AT ALL. Every tenth game or so I come across a guy who is dead accurate with the rifle or never misses a shot with the shotty. Who knows if he`s cheating. It's annoying but nowhere near game-breaking.

If you're really that concerned about hacking, record some evidence and send it to admins of your fav servers instead of posting here.

To be fair, devour is annoying as hell in Combat mode. Get gulped from 7 feet away while jetpacking, and you gotta wait like 10 seconds to respawn. They even removed the "kill" command for Combat mode so you can't commit suicide. If you f4 and rejoin you lose a res point. Gah!!!! Stop eating me!!!

Combat is now COMPLETELY unenjoyable to play as marine after 5 minutes.

At least they removed ink taunt. But yeah, the no skill onos existing in combat mode is pretty yawnsville.

Combat feels very weird compared to NS1. Vanilla Lerks are a lot stronger and so are Gorges. With Sprint it feels like lots of the action happens at both ends of the map and none in the middle. It's also weird that you can take any skill build then just recycle and go straight for Exo. There's no penalty (like banking up armor points).
