1) Game is still unoptimized.
2) Still in "beta".
3) When is the actual game going to be released.
4) When as a person that brought the game in alpha and got a black game suit 1051 days ago am I going to receive the final game?
5) Thanks.

    You got it all wrong!

    1) Game is optimized in "beta"
    2) Game is not in beta anymore
    3) The unactual game (bt) has not been released yet
    4) You got a black game suit to play with, what do you need a final game for?
    5) Welcome!

I want a full game already. I paid for it so long ago. I played NS1 and bought NS2 expecting to have a similar experience

As if you did not know how it is with software. Better software gets more complex, contains more layers. Greater complexity means more bugs. Debugging is expensive, and calling a piece of software "alpha", "beta" or release is completely arbitrary. Internet Explorer browsers, for example, routinely broke RFC standards in all of their versions.

Therefore, it's no wonder NS1 (which I did not play) was less buggy than NS2.

... By which you mean a free mod which underwent near constant and considerable change over a number of years? The NS1 development was a very long process, with much occurring while the game was live.

Of course NS2 had to be published when it was: in order to pay the bills, feed mouths and continue the development. UWE would have been lunatics to hold off its release. What the full, playable, publicly released game has allowed them to do is improve gameplay aspects, improve performance (see b249), and continue development with the aim of both greater accessibility and higher skill ceiling. Is it perfect? No. Is any game perfect? Of course not, don't be ridiculous.

I don't know on what planet you live if you think a very small indie developer can do all of that "OMFG RIGHT NOW." Your posts come across as disgustingly entitled. What they've achieved is nothing short of incredible, and the very fact that UWE is STILL devoting considerable coding time to improving the game is a testament to their love and dedication of the NS universe.

I'm not saying that there are things about NS2 that I wouldn't like to see changed, and I don't agree with all of the changes in the BT mod (but I do try it occasionally and post my feedback). What I will say, though, is that despite comparatively poor performance (compared with AAA titles) and a degree of stagnation in the current vanilla gameplay, NS2 has been amazing value for money. I've spent about 420h I think, mainly playing 3 nights a week since launch. That works out at something like £0.05 per hour (let's call it $0.03 per hour for our US friends). Add to that the fact that it has held my interest for that long, and continues to do so, and you get a 'very good game'. In addition, it's competed against MP3 (which I've played for about 3 hours so far... NS2 just calls to me to play instead), and a bunch of other AAA titles in my games lists and you can see why, for me at least, NS2 is a truly great game.

I am far from alone in spending that much time playing this game, or from playing it at the expense of other games in my steam list.

Perhaps instead of posting pointless, misinformed bitchy threads, you could get stuck in to providing useful feedback for areas of the game that you'd like to see improved.

Threads like this make me really cross.

    1) It will be (yay).
    2) Minecraft, dayz and Dota 2. All really bad games. All in beta (well, not Minecraft, but it used to be).
3)Sooner than you thought.. I mean think.
4)See above points... Also, I would have loved a black suit, nice catch :(
    5)You are most welcome.

Speculate all you like, brand me as entitled all you like, I just want the actual game already, I mean how long has it been, three years?

The game still under performs, compare it to the top 25 games which it ranked 16th, all of them were top games, they weren't alphas nor where they betas, they were fully released games.

I paid for this game years ago, its performed horribly ever since, I got a black suit three years ago, for what?

I'm still waiting for the game, the actually finished product. I thought I would have to wait one year, maybe two at best... but at three years? Even then it had been in development for quite some time. NS1 back in the days had similar FPS, similar player base, similar competitive scene, how many years does it take to improve on something that was simply that good.

In the mean time, the game is losing players, the player base is shrinking. Not that has to do with my grievance.

I'm sorry, but please don't sweep my thread aside, I'm a customer, I paid for something, I in fact paid in advance because I wanted to contribute to something that I felt would be awesome, but its really failing to deliver.

I'm a pessimist, I love the potential of this game, but the performance really is ruining my horny, to quote the simpsons

Wait a few days until the current beta build gets live (which you can already try out in steam). Performance is much much better there and you should be much more satisfied

I think you need to read more Sea-Monkey. The news page clearly shows the new beta has a very good performance increase and you can even try it now to test your system.

The Balance Mod will be rolled into the game (or most of it) very soon.

Hopefully this will give you what you desire. However I'm not quite sure what it is you desire.
all of them were top games, they weren't alphas nor where they betas, they were fully released games.
NS2 is a fully realized & released game. I'm pretty sure I can see and buy it on steam, so it's definitely released. And it got rated as well as or better than some of those other 24 games you mentioned on metacritic.

    Performance. Soon.

What is one supposed to do with a thread like this in the first place? Is it meant to spark a meaningful discussion? If so, you might want to reconsider your approach.

I bought it right before it came out in alpha/beta and got a black suit for it, I'm still waiting for a proper actual release that isn't a lag fest, and won't run like crap on my computer that quite satisfactorily the other 24 games listed on the list that run just fine...

News page... ok great, so after 1051 days it might be playable? So after all this time it might be playable? Yet to be seen. Otherwise it still runs like crap, and lost lots of players.

I'm sorry, but this forum is full on fan boys, and the devs are reading fan boy comments and running of fan boy motivation. I'm sure there are plenty of disgruntled unhappy customers like me out there that can't be bothered posting here, not if they even knew the forums existed.

Not a happy customer, wouldn't recommend the game to any one at this point in time, in fact recommended to friends that asked about NS2 to avoid it right now. These are competitive gamers that would be interested in gaming competitively despite poor performance.

Sorry that you are not happy. Hopefully the next patch and the balance mod will change your opinion.

Closing before this turns into a flame war.

Too bad he didn't mention his specs or actual fps first...
