[Question] Playing a game with friends versus bots.

Hello,

Whenever I select training mode in the game, and start a server with bots, my friends can't connect to my server and vice-versa. "The server is not responding".

How can I fix this problem? I want to play NS2 with my friends versus bots.

I don't think it's possible yet. At the moment it's mainly for practicing the marine commander mode on your own.

    Boo.. :(

It seems kind of misleading, because you are able to set the server name, password, and max players.

It is mostly for what @neoken said, but it can be used live for him to connect to. I am guessing your not port forwarding? If its not that then we need more information.

A little spoiler, marines will win in a bot vs bot match. They are basically little aim bots. Give them shotguns and you win.

Thank you James, I will try forwarding my ports when my friend gets back online.

You might try something. Start a normal server, enable cheats, then use the addbots command to add the bots and disable cheats again.

addbots takes 2 parameters, first one is the amount and the second is the team (1 is marines and 2 is aliens). I think there is no marine commander yet, so you would have to play against aliens. So addbots 6 2 would create 6 alien bots.

You don't have to use those parameters either.. you can just type "addbot" as many times as you want and they'll join a team automatically.
Like others said though, marine bots dont miss currently.. so be warned :)

I'm just gonna...echo what everyone else has said: Try port-forwarding, then it should work. Best to have your friends be on marines (maybe with some marine bots), then play against alien bots with a Kham.

You can also play with your friends vs bots in another way. For me it's was fun to play versus a huge amount of aliens bots (with Kham) with disabled balance when joining to team and disabled auto-balance. But it's sad that the alien bot don't know about another life forms than skulk.

HI, I've forwarded ports 27015 and 27016, both protocols, on my Linksys e900, but as soon as my friend clicks my name on steam and select to join the game it shows that the server is not responding.
I've downloaded a program that says ports are ok.
    Need help!

    Command doesn't have sv_lan 0 does it :P

@nickolaslr, try get your friend looking through the legacy browser (in steam), see if he can see the server there?

EDIT: of course I have little idea what I'm talking about in making a (NS2) server, but steam browser works for it right?
