How to change commander binds?

Whenever I'm commanding I hit C to get a more familiar (and faster access) minimap. Unfortunately, this also is the hotkey to upgrade a hive to shade, and to research flamethrowers. Is there any way to get the C button to not be used by the commander UI (and if a mod is required, a way that would get past consistency checking)?

Not fun to get yelled at for accidentally going shade first! :)

They can be changed in some config file I'm sure you can find with google, only problem is it's consistency checked and blocked.

Unfortunately, for now, the commander keys are hard coded (Frustrating for a PC game, i know)
This is why the default map key was switched to something like M iirc a few months back.

Wrong. Because it's contains individual settings about your mouse sensitivity, keyboard binds, armor type, sound volume and etc. So, it's impossible to check consistency of this file because it's always different for every player.

@OP: Play commander with an AZERTY (or european) keyboard. You would think your problem is a glitch compared to european players.

That's not the config file I was talking about. It MIGHT be a lua file even, I don't know. I'm not talking about the config file in appdata though.

    Awesome. I changed C to V and V to B:

You can do so yourself in
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<numbers>\4920\remote\options.xml

    No more accidental shade hive!

Another workaround is to use AutoHotkey to reroute your key presses.

That wouldn't help against things like pressing c brings up the map though.

I don't actually know what precisely you find funny about that? :-/
I find it highly frustrating, annoying, and sad, personally.

I find humor in the fact that this problem still persists.

More sad than funny IMO. Ridiculous would be it.

Really I don't understand why you and IronHorse starts this topic by talking about hard coded and consistency checked stuff, when you can change these binds by editing the config file in appdata. The author of this topic will think that it's impossible to change binds at all.

Mind saying which file? Because I don't know which one you're talking about.

    Hi guys,

Iua file can't be changed, it corrupts the game.
And in this file (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<numbers>\4920\remote\options.xml) commander shortcuts don't appear.

So it seems curently impossible to change shortcuts :(
    Any solution ?

    Thanks

Sorry, english isn't my native language ;)

You switch the default keys in the options.xml, so for example Y with Z (qwerty/qwertz keyboards), if it still works.
Should then look like the following
    <Z>Y</Z>
    <Y>Z</Y>
Would work like when you press Z as if you have pressed Y and vice versa.

Sure you can swap it around but it will conflict with hot keys and typical bindings so i dont suggest that. You'll accidently research or recycle something in my experience..
