<div class="IPBDescription">The equivalent of HA/HMG?</div> are Fades supposed to be the equivalent of HA/HMG marines?

what other counters are there?

too many times have I been on Marines and see Fades coming in and just no good way to get them. You guys say, "Just rush them with your HMG" yea well, acid rockets are flying and they hurt quite a bit when they splash everywhere

*whew* it's a good thing I hardly play marines

<b>Fades are not supposed to equal with a single marine in <i>any</i> case.</b>

Being the main fighter class of the Kharaa, they're supposed to be at least worth two or three teamplaying marines. The trick is to keep a combination between accurate LMGers and HMGers, to stay away from each other so Acid splash doesn't kill the whole group, and to keep pressure on the Fade so he can't start hit&run.

I'm ashamed to say this but one time I was a fade, and a single NON-HA guy killed me in 5 seconds with a LMG. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Personally I think the fade is equal to a light marine with his armor and 1-2 weapons upgrades... But thats becuase I own... >.>

I've heard that fades=HA/HMG but it isn't true. To be effective, you need a GL but that leaves you open to close range attacks.

weapon level at 3 and armor at 2 is usually enough for a marine to take a non carapced fade with the lmg, if fade has carapace it will take the LMG clip and the pistol, but its doable, you just cant be intimidated by the tall deadly man eating acid spitting snake beast

    ... AHH RUN FADES!!!

I've been taken down by HMGs plenty of times before I even got off 3 or 4 ARs. Almost died to a upgraded LMG multiple times.

The key to killing fades is NOT HA, HA sucks, try out a jetpack and HMG combo. Its frikin crazy how many kills you can rack up with proper control of a jetpack.

Once while Marines were losing I was one of the few with a jetpack on, I flew out one of the doors on eclipse meaning to kill myself so I could grab something to drink. Ended up killing 2 Fades in a row on 1 HMG clip. Also managed to down an Onos later on with a bit of handy work.

If you know how to menuver with the jetpack well, you can rack up kills easy. Its just ALOT of Comms think the Jetpack is worthless and HA is better.

    Pfft

with lvl 3 bullets, lmg and pistol, I think the fade (having carapace) still takes more shots to kill. If a fade has regen, its real easy to kill him. Which is why I don't use regen.
Best way to kill fades: hide around a corner, wait for the fade to shoot a bunch of rockets into the room your guarding, and immediately while his energy is low, pop out and shoot all your pistol ammo. the fade wont freak out and run from a pistol. then you whip out your lmg and mow him down.
Same thing with HMG, just don't bother with pistol. Shotgun....well shotgun is useless since the fade only has to be 7 feet away and it wont do crap for damage. Waste of resources.

Get both jetpack and HA, get a HMG, and get a welder, now look at them cry. Plus, its never too fun to knife an onos who just can't get that flying blueish streak killed <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->.

I find the Fade's advantage, as is true with most aliens, comes from the element of surprise. As a Fade, I always try and stay near a wall, because if I'm caught in the open without energy to acid rocket or even blink, I will likely die. It is only by dodging around corners, letting a few rockets loose, running to heal and the coming back to attack, that I am able to rack up a nice score.

As a marine with HA and an HMG, I feel pretty confident in my ability to take out a Fade, provided I can always stay close enough to keep up my accuracy and keep the Fade scared.

When two or *ulp* more Fades work together, it may take several respawns of the marine team and a whole lot of turrets to bring them down.

i think its hard to put an equivalence on them...

a fade can rip apart an entire team of marines in 5 shots, or shred ha/hmgs if he knows what hes doing.

then again, in ha/hmg i once killed 4 fades (in teh same room) who were ripping apart our base, then went down the hallway and killed 3 more before i died. /egotrip

    it's not about the size of your weapons, its what you do with it <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
