Performance went up?

I am one of those with a somewhat low end comp by now. I would usually get 50 FPS at the best.
Then just now i played a game where my ping would be at a comfortably 100 FPS and drop to no lower than 50.

So, something pleasant happened while i have been wasting time in BF3. Anyone know what?
