Mouse locking up

This is the only game this happens in, but every so often when I go to move the mouse, it'll "freeze" for a second or two. This happens throughout an entire game, not just during firefights and stuff.

I'm currently using a Razor Orochi. This has been happening since a few updates ago. I have Raw Input set to On, because when I have it Off, my mouse will flip out occasionally and sometimes do complete 180s when I just move the mouse slightly. Like, the sensitivity just jacks itself up for no reason and then resets itself. I also have Acceleration Off.

It makes it very difficult to track skulks. I can get a few shots off on them, but when they move and my mouse doesn't...well it doesn't end well for me. Same thing goes for being on the alien team.

It's very hard for me to find a server that I get good performance on, and when I do, I'm crippled by my mouse movement.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Two things I do as I've been using Razer since the diamondback. I love their mice.. for a while.

    1) Mousepad. My suggestion http://func.net/ I'm about to pick the new one up when I get paid today :D I've had the surface 1030 since NS1

    2) Every Razer mouse I've had dies within a year of abusing it with NS and they send me a new one. I suggest that lol

I think you should look down those routes. I'm going to replace mine soon because it has similar issues. But it only happens on the smooth side of my mousepad (which i prefer). It doesn't have trouble on the rough side

Well, it's not the mouse. I've tried out a couple different mice I had lying around, and they all produce the same result. Also tried a couple different mouse pads.

This is the only game that his happens in. It's really annoying.

I might just re-install NS2 to see if that fixes it.

So the game resumes typically and fluidly, but your mouse input locks up?
Try disabling raw input... and then attempt investigating why your mouse flips 180?? lol.

Sounds like driver issues or something else..
We've had reports before of stuttering with a mouse, but never something like this.

You could always run processexplorer to see if it captures whats stealing input?

I recorded a video. I'll have it posted in a while.

    Change the poll rate up/down.

Polling rate was at 1000mhz when I recorded that video. That's the highest setting on my Razor Orochi.

Yes, so lower it to 125hz and see what happens.

Shame you have to use lower rate, beats it not working though. There might be a better fix from someone else? I'm not sure as to what causes the polling rate issues, cpu or something.

Do u have harder lags during heavy fights?

I had samekind of issue and massive lags during fights (basicly my mouse locked for a sec or two). Then i did some testings with other fps games and same issue. I found out that my usb port is broken or something. Changed usb port and now everything is fine again.

Some hardware /software combinations have a hard time dealing with high mouse polling rates.
There's infinite forums to scroll through on the matter, actually, if you're interested in investigating.

But yea.. the fix is obviously lowering it to 125 hz.
    I use 1000 mhz with a logitech G9 just fine, btw :-?

    hi slayer20.

i use a razer deathadder, and had the same "mouse stuttering/locking/freezing" issue.

at 1st, thought it was the mousepad or lag or the driver that needed updating.

After testing, turns out was neither of them.

it was some program that was running in the background.
Never figured out what it was...

    -The Solution

    1. create a brand new user account via the control panel.

    2. log into the new user account.

    3. launch natural selection 2.

    the mouse locking when away.

this worked for me. hope it helps.
