I just wonder if it will be the last content patch. I mean since they might be prototyping a new game on the horizon and need to shift their resources to it. Plus if NS2 does not gain enough players from this content patch then they can't really justify making more content if it will cost them money and make them none. Too bad we'll probably never get to see ns2_discovery.
Scent of Fear is already back in the Balance mod; Ejectable Exos have been seen in Last Stand already; Gorge Web models are already in the game files.
HMG probably does not fit anywhere in the balance of NS2 and neither do Acid Rocket nor Spore Projectiles because they would allow aliens to do plenty of damage and harassment over distance without ever needing to go in and risk their lifeforms. There is no point bringing back bad gameplay mechanics just for nostalgia's sake.
There's a rumour they'll bring back Devour, but spice it up a bit with an added Surgeon Simulator-clone-minigame. Comm will have to drop an Advanced Medkit beforehand though.

you know I heard they were thinking of rolling out diggers, parasites that zombifie marine corpses, access to corpse armaments, butonly health, and massive debuff to aim, since, you know, zombie fingers...
Lots of cool things in the pipeline for the future. New content (ie: female marine), new maps (more than 1) - lots of stuff we can't talk about. But some really cool stuff.

EDIT: Balance aside, it'd be cool.
Supposedly the taser art assets are in the game as well, so who knows?

Edit: More effective bots! The ability to command the aliens on bots! The ability for your aliens to evolve on bots!!!
