Maybe this is not the place for these kind of questions, but i've started mapping, but i can't see to weld faces togheter.
I select the two faces i want to weld and either options of welding (- near vertices and - selected vertices) doesn't work.
Can someone help me to tell how to weld two faces togheter? Because i want to similer shapes at either side of the ready room.
(why can't this be like solidworks =( ?)
Many thanks in advance cause i got this great idea for a map.

Take what you have there and put two vertices on the bottom edge of the rear piece of geo where you want your smaller geo to join, and then delete the face on that large one.
Then move the smaller piece into place over those vertices that you just created. Select all of it, edges, faces and vertices and use the 'weld near verticies' command (Found under the 'Edit' menu). Then just select all the edges that make up the empty face and use the 'create face' command ('Edit' menu again).
Hope that was clear enough, I'm not good at teaching.
step 1
first you delete the center peace (not the lines around it)
step 2
after you weld near vertices, you delete the line in the bottom (the red arrow show`s)
step 3
use the line tool (like in the picture)
step 4
mark all the lines and push the button to create a face
this is what you end up with
i hope this help for some one
In picture you see that none of the frames i want to 'combine' have a face! Delete them both, then you end op with the frame. Place two dots/vertices/points on the lower line of the frame. Select all of your smaller frame, move it over the 2 dots and click the weld command. And you end up with pic2.
But then i run into a different problem. I can't create a proper face.
If i delete the blue line in picture 3 the floor face dissapears. And if I redraw the top line like in picture 4, It becomes one giant face WITH the smaller frame just being ignored.
What are the terms of creating a face?
by marking the corners on the end of the wall and floor
In your example above I believe your door might not be properly welded, or sometimes cases with intricacies have issues. You could just delete the face that appears when you seal it off, select the lines bounding the face you want and alt+c, you probably need selection mode to create faces, shortcut being space.
Another way of going about your problem would be to draw the door's edges on the back face.
Again, n00bish terms.
Pic 1, build you wall completely. Slide it into place (pic 2)
And just select the corners (round circles) and weld. ONLY select the corners! no lines or faces.
Afterwards, test!
In selection mode, if you 'weld near vertices' only superimposing vertices will weld, whatever else you have selected. If you 'weld selected' all selected vertices will merge, whatever else you have selected.
Suggest a different way?
