Build 253 & 252: Random Rubber Banding

Starting with build 252 and still present in build 253, there seems to be random 1 second rubber banding in games. That is, you will 'warp' backwards to where you were 1 second ago or you will view other players doing it.

I'm using the DX9 renderer in the options.

dxdiag attached.

I experience the same problem, in DX11. I suppose it's server-side problem, because the problem does not manifest on every server (on local server it's fine, for example).

@kamamura. It may be server side but its defiantly 252/253... All last night people kept saying "oh it's the server" blah blah... If a build breaks the server instead of my game, the build is still doing the breaking....

Yes I play KKG where apparently everyone thinks the server is crap... But in my experience the caliber of player is higher so don't blame the lag blame their aim...

Hey, I certainly have the same problem. Since the 'Reinforcement' patch rolled out I get a steady but consistent amount of rubberbanding. It peaks massively in combat to the point where it's unplayable (I.e. I move then suddenly pulled back and everyone around me has died or killed the enemies)

I keep asking other people on the servers with no response (Hence I assume it's only me).

    I'm running the following:

    2600k @ 4ghz
    2 x GTX 680 2gb
    16gb RAM
and NS2 is run off a Vertex4 SSD.

I have not had this problem in ANY previous patch. I've tried running in DX9 and DX11. I've tried running with out my antivirus running (Even though it's set to ignore the NS2 folder etc). I have no downloads or the like running.

Any ideas or help??? Thanks in advance!

@kais_4, try running with net_stats up and see if there is a network issue.

You should be able to see three important things: your ping, the server tick rate, and any choke you are getting.

If you are good there, try r_stats or fps and see if you are getting fps drops.

If your fps are good and your connection seems good, I would bet on a server issue. But let me know how those go and we can be more specific.

Most times it's the server lagging with the server tickrate going below 20 or so

yes, do check server ticks with net_stats 1.
it should be on 30 or very very close to.

Hi guys, Thanks heaps for the responses. It turns out it was an ISP issue. They did some tweaking to my connection and the problem was resolved. Not sure why it was only visible in NS2 though... Perhaps NS2 is a great network test haha. Thanks again! :)
