Third-person elements.

It's nice that we have these new skins and decals but we just never get to experience them on our own characters.

The only way I knew I was using my skin and had the correct decal on my shoulder was right at the start of the game where there is a slight third-person pan to your character before the game starts.

Now, I'm not saying we just add a simple third-person button to the game, that would be nice but I'm sure there would be complaints and balance issues with looking around walls or whatever.

Why not just add a sort of spectate button for standing still? Like pressing F5 or something just rotates the camera around your character to have a look around the room and yourself. This is just 1 suggestion, there could be loads of other ways to implement third-person elements but I would really like to stop and look at my character every so often, if I'm a mech, if I'm a certain alien and so on...they look cool you know, I like to admire!

I also like to take cook or funny looking screenshots and it would be nice with a disabled hud and not being stuck in first-person.

    I like the idea in principle, but it would have to be highly restricted in some way to prevent abuses. For instance, standing still around a corner and using 3rd person to see what's on the other side.

    I don't know, usually with these sort of things it's not that much of a problem because you can quickly pan around a corner to get a look at something anyway and hear most things that are happening through movement. It wouldn't be too much of a advantage doing this sort of stuff and I would think it would leave you vulnerable and disorientated if you had to make a fast action.

    You could make it so the switch between and into is delayed or make it that the camera is pretty close up and doesn't clip through anything to further prevent these things.

    I like this and I also like the idea of third-person spectating when you're dead too...although I'm not sure if that's already in the game...I remember it but can't see it lately, maybe you have to press something?

    I would still like something a bit more in game as well and I would like a third person button for the ready room when we're jumping about and messing before the next match starts.

    These things make for great screenshots as well.

    Plus...how would the aliens taunt? That would be weird lol. Something similar to that camera perspective though and maybe more zoomed in.

    I remember there being visible third-person taunt animations for the aliens many, many builds ago that played when you hit the taunt key, but they were removed.

    Used to be able to taunt while in the readyroom, too.

    Aliens have taunt animations, have a look ate viewer.exe and load up them alien models. Maybe two kinds of taunts would work, one is vocal and doesn't animated and the other is visual/vocal. But yeah without the deathcam freeze frame those animation would go to waste to some extent, I guess :)

    Oh really? I never knew! That would be cool then, it's a shame that yeah these things are going to waste.

    I don't even know what this shadow skin looks like properly and I've never seen the skulk one. I have to play with someone else who also has it and have to wait for them to stand still but I haven't actually played with anyone else who has it yet that's on the same team as me and I really wanna see it!

    i have an idea, its like a lean but that can be abused in every corner, so to restrict its usage it only works when you are close to the powernode, so if you are in a dark room with no power or red lights or just welding a little damadged powernode in main base fully lit and visible you can pan out the view and look over the sholder kinda, it zooms out backwards from first person and slightly to the side, so if you stand with left shoulder to the wall it moves more to the right shoulder allowing you to see both the badge and a potential skulk coming from lets say cafeteria main access corridor, or if you stand the other way you can look over your left shoulder at any threats coming from behind counter or bar. It pans out backwards so the crosshair is still 100% accurate to how you are holding it or the welder just that you can shoose a distance to slide out the 3rd person view to reveal more of your surroundings and yourself. I dont know if its dead space or maby even gears of war that has that kinda shoulder look i only play ns2 :P but hopefully you know what i mean when you weld.

    The third-person spectate had been replaced by the first-person spectate. I don't know why, but since then there is no 3rd person view anymore.

    A Killcam would be awesome!

    Yeah I thought it did and I think it should come back as a toggle between first/third instead.

    If you Admin/control a server you can turn on cheats and type thirdperson into the console and you can play in 3rd person. The codes all there it's just mighty difficult mind you as you have no crosshair, So landing shots and bites is a game initself but it's fun. Maybe you should take your idea over to the modding section see if someone could make it a mod.

    Or you could sub to the menu mod and see your models ;)
    Even skulk taunt and Jesus Lerk.
    Though death can could be cool. Though I like not reliving getting slaughtered over and over.

    It maybe not what you wanted, but there is a nice mod called "Main Menu Poses" which shows your selected skin in the main menu.

    I'll have a look at the mod but I'm a bit skeptical, never really liked mods as they get outdated would prefer it added but I'll have a look.

    I have always loved games with a kill cam. It would not impact game play at all since you wait to spawn anyhow.

    Killcams are cool and would show what you look like. 3rd person is a tough one as it can easily be abused as you say to look around corners. No one likes the idea of being seen when the other person doesnt have a direct line of sight of them.

    Everything gets outdated sooner or later, just gotta enjoy things for the fleeting moment they exist in this universe achachachacha
