Can't Connect to Descent or Biodome

Every time a server goes to Descent or Biodome, it first takes longer then usual to load into the ready room, then when it does I get the desync error (that flashing red icon) and eventually I get timed out. It's only on these two maps so I think it has something to do with not downloading these two maps properl,y but I can't find a way to fix it. I have no mods installed and even did a uninstall/re-install recently and they still don't work.

    These maps had problems in the past (255). Have you tried the official servers or "map ns2_biodome" in the console? Otherwise i would ask you for your log (%APPDATA%/Natural Selection 2/) or a tech_support.zip.

    I've noticed that in the console log these errors come up when Biodome fails to connect properly

    Error: Couldn't open file 'D:/build/assets/materialsrc/biodome/biodome_glass_01.material'
    Error: No shader specified for material 'D:/build/assets/materialsrc/biodome/biodome_glass_01.material'

    and something very similar happens with Descent

    That happens to everybody. I get that biodome glass error constantly in the editor.

    Like Ghoul said, try (at the main menu) typing "map ns2_biodome" into the console. (To see if it can load the map when you're on your own local server.)

    He seems to join his local server fine.

    The no crosshair happens because the server does not have an active game. In the pre round warm up you will not have a crosshair. if you enable cheats it would start the round and give you a crosshair.

    The d:\ thing can be ignored. It is not causing your problem.

    If you do join, the red plug is somewhat normal if you have a long load time. This is because the actual number is an average of recent frames. I don't know how many frames are averaged, but it should slowly come down after joining. It does not indicate desync it indicates that your connection is very laggy. You can see live networking data by opening the console and entering net_stats

    I would try connecting to an empty uwe server running biodome and see if you eventually get into the game and your ping comes down.
