NO I DON'T CHEAT TY
gl_overbright 1
brightness 10
gamma 10
As soon as you connect to a server, gamma/brightness get reset to maximum allowable values so its not actually 10/10.
If that fails, look at your Display Device settings and see if you can increase game brightness/gamma in there.
I think it's much more fun when skulks can jump out from the shadows. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

.
That you cant do with the current maps, not anywhere. :/
*note to self: bug mappers to make a solid darkness map in which marines will have to use their flashlights/phases to see, and aliens would suddenly go for adv. hivesight more than anything else.*
On mine (Matrox G400 on Viewsonic PF790), with brightness of monitor maxed out i can't see anything to be usefull to the team.
The solution - use gamma adjuster. It comes standard with Matrox drivers (in advanced settings of card), and many other cards too (same, in advanced display settings).
Keep in mind that some drivers (detonators prior to 40 i believe and older matrox drivers) don't work too well with overbrightening that NS uses... for solutions, head for technical support forums <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
therefore at night its great.
Its ok.
The dev's were smarter than the average bear for puting that in <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

that's why i said "usefull for the team".
I mean yeah, i loved it when i had to turn off all the lights and sit for 10 minutes getting used to the darkness.
But it was still not working for real game.
For ATI radeons, the 4/2 setting works perfectly. With both settings aliens cans till hide from me in the dark, but I can still see them running at me along a decently lit hallway. I don't like making things too bright as it defeats the purpose of the game. I like to think when I play games, so having hiding spots are a great way to keep me on my toes and checking around with my flashlight.
This is a severe problem with PC games where darkness is a balance factor. Video cards, user settings, and whatnot change each player's visual information
off topic: I would like to see a few dark room here and there but not a whole map.
Theres a cs map in the dark and first 1 to use there flashlight usually dies, hehe.
That would be sweet in NS but would be dis advantage for marines u would think. But as a marine i would care as the buzz u would get seing a skulk jump from the shadows.
