[Linux] "Server mod is out of date"

This is starting to get really annoying. This bug has persisted since I started playing at build 256.
Mods this happens with (so far, may be more, I haven't done a proper check): all Shine related and NS2Stats.

Basically, trying to join a server with certain mods will put you back at the main menu with the error message "Server mod is out of date".
Deleting the cache and Workshop modules doesn't always seem to work, also it's a shitty workaround having to do this and download the mods EVERY time you join a new game.
Waiting for a map (or even server) restart does not help.

This is obviously a bug, perhaps the consistency check is broken, not sure. Whatever the problem is, it's keeping me off most of the servers.

Since this has been ongoing since 256, maybe it's time to fix it? I know these mods arent officially supported, but since UWE has opted to go all "automagic" on the DLC/Workshop I think it's something that should be addressed; there is no way to manually download a specific version that matches the server or any other workaround I know of.

    Have you tried to subscribe to these mods at the workshop. Fixed it for many users of my server (Survival of the Fattest)

    My friends who play on Windows do not have this problem. I have not confirmed that any other Linux users have this problem so, I'm not sure if it's OS related.

    Try to delete ~/.config/Natural\ Selection\ 2/Workshop
    This does not fix the bug, but solves it temporally for me

    Edit: or set the launch options to "rm -rf ~/.config/Natural\ Selection\ 2/Workshop && LC_ALL=en_US %command%"

    I have this problem a lot as well. They should add the possibility to delete the mods from ingame instead of using terminal. Also, it should ask if you want to update/replace the mod instead of disconnecting you from the server.

    and the subscribe function doesn't seem to work. It only changes the active option when clicking on it.

    The game should store the mods in a versioned fashion in the workshop cache. That would allow it to download the mods from the server whenever a version mismatch is encountered.

    Anyone still getting this after the patch?
    If so please ensure you have NO mods that are active or subscribed to, and that you have removed the workshop folder entirely, as well as disable steam cloud.

    Post any errors you receive in your log.txt or console.

    Yeah, this is soooooo annoying. Almost no servers other then the official ones you can play on with Linux. Please see what eyeris said above. Thanks UWE!

    The issue has been resolved for me since 261, I think. Can't remember. There has been many issues and many builds of NS2 since I bought it at 250'ish. :)
