Sounds cutting off in-game. Even when there's little action going on.

Happens every match. I'm happy Skulking around, suddenly my jumps sounds either cut off very short or don't play at all. Other sounds around me cut out too. The strange thing is, even when there's little action going on some sounds just don't play, or get cut short.

It's like NS2 is using channels my soundcard doesn't have, or NS2 thinks i have less channels than my soundcard is actually capable of.
I don't experience sounds cutting out in other games (TF2, Tribes Ascend, BF2 PR, PS2, RO2/RS, Arma3 )

Win7 - i3770k @ 3.50 GHz - GTX570 - 16GB - Creative X-FI Titanium 7.1
Latest drivers around for most.

Can anyone help me out?

    Never heard of this before..
type -verbose in your launch options through steam and then provide the log.txt or techsupport.exe zip file after loading the game.

I sent the tech_support.zip to tech_support at uwe. Hopefully they can help me out.

In the mean time. I just played a match (first of the day) on Veil, started running around as Skulk. Within seconds most player sounds got cut off. A sound like WallJump would only play a fraction of the sound, just the beginning. All the while the ambient sounds keep on playing.

I then quit, added -verbose to commandline, restarted NS2. Then on all maps i tried (couldn't get in that specific Veil server anymore) i didn't have the sounds cutting out anymore.. I've no idea what's going on or what the pattern is to recreate. It seems to happen only sometimes.

It happens the same for me, in a leaser degree, but I suppose its the lack of correct 3D sound position support for the engine :(. I have been experiencing this since release, its random, sometimes feels worse than others. Using logitech g35.

I still suffer from this bug. Run around as Skulk a bit, jumping and walljumping, eventually the sounds only play a small bit and then cut out.
As if i have no more audio channels left.

I've send the tech_support.zip long ago, sadly no reply as of yet.

Is there something i can type in the console to get more information about the sound channels etc? Or to reinitialize sounds when they start cutting out?
    please devs..

I also made this thread at another time.

I also occasionally have the beacon sound cut off, so I think the obs died, only to have their whole team teleport back successfully. :(

This happens a lot for me as well. mainly bunnyhopping around with jumps in quick succession, such as wallhopping.

Exactly the same for me. Do we have something similar in specs?

I get this occasionally, but I haven't found much consistency in when it occurs. I'll see if I can get more data on my end.

Well thats quite normal when jumping, but when whole computer sounds get broken its not (pretty much sound memory leak and reboot is the only way to fix that.. thanks to creative 8/8.1 drivers) :D

This is because the numbers of sounds that can play at once is a ridiculously small amount. Just another wonderful side effect if having to cut down memory usage...

I think theres two issues going on here tho @samusdroid because i think @zeep may have originally posted his issue before that change went in..

I'm not sure what the specs would have to do with it, but maybe?

    i7 3770k
    GTX680
    ASUS P8Z77-V mobo
Mobo Audio -> SPDIF -> headset

I've been noticing this too. the easiest way to duplicate it for me was to play around in decents club. We dropped some sentries an obs and turned on juke box and often all the sounds would stop. Happened two rounds in a row. Meh

Wow I just naturally assumed I'd wandered onto the EA forums.
