Still no OSX client on the horizon?

It's been quite a while since the game was ported to work with OpenGL on Linux. What is holding the game back from OSX support, if anything? I've played it on Linux with no problems, compared to on Windows, which was actually slower and more buggy for me (on the same machine).

Also, please don't give the pathetic "macs can't play games. sell it and buy a pc :trollface:" response. It hasn't been valid for about ten years. I'd appreciate a technical answer if possible and even a timeline of when this might happen. I'm a developer and have written OpenGL applications that work across the board, and am just wondering if there's some sort of technicality with the spark engine that's holding it back, or some other reason specific to the game. This has basically prevented me from playing the game since I switched my primary working machine to OSX. I was even planning on giving to the Reinforcement program as soon as I can play again, but it doesn't seem like that's in the near future.

I realize it's not top priority, given the proportion of Mac users on steam (http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey), but since there's already Linux support, it just seems wrong that there isn't support for OSX.

Any constructive feedback is appreciated!

    Don't ask for it or they'll put some new system in that will result in -50 fps like what happened with openGL and dx11

    DX11 yields -50 fps for you?
    You must be exaggerating....

    I would've taken "It doesn't have the lowered input delay that DX9 has" as a realistic point..

    @dasmoose
    Nothing is planned that i know of as of right now. Why don't you use bootcamp?

    Yeah, bootcamp isn't a bad option if you have a windows install lying around. It's how I first got into this game before I built my own PC. I haven't tried a linux install on bootcamp, but I'm sure it would be just as smooth as the windows install?

    He doesn't mean that DX11 is yielding low fps, he means that the overhaul of the rendering system has caused a huge amount of issues.

    Too many threads about this... I doubt we'll see it unless reinforcement hits it's mark. Plus linux is still relatively new imo.

    I would not expect an OSX version for so many reasons.

    I am actually curious on the DX11 implementation. I Actually get higher peak frames and later game FPS with DX11... so it would be interesting to know where its future lies.

    I really wish there was an OS X version of NS2, too.
