I once was in a game where there were 3 people with flamethrowers in the command chair spitting fire through the wall. If they had a welder it would be complete.
I remember that, it looked awesome from command view, unfortunately the meds I slipped into the chair were just not enough to save those brave souls.
Side note. Had 3 guys hop inside the CC with the comm last night. Problem was it was at the very start of the game (at least they powerbuilt an armory for welders welders). Playing 3 people down was less than enjoyable however...
End game camping is one of the things that kills my enjoyment of NS2. Its things like this that make me half regret I dont have the time or patience to commit to competitive play anymore.
Marine endgame turtle is just boring frustration because you know that there is no way you can come back from it. Aliens captured every part of the map at that point (since they don't need to withdraw players from the actual attack to do so) and have so much pres that they have an infinite amount of suicide bile bomb and Lerk/Fade/Onos spam.
Even if you managed to break out of your turtle as marines, you just don't have the firepower to burn through the thousands of the combined HP and armor of an alien base, with Hydras and Whips everywhere, constantly being healed by Crags that keep themselves alive, with a lot of stuff that you can't even see and enemies that can respawn at any time in a random place in that base without any warning to you.
And even if you should manage to take that one base down due to some miracle, then it does not really matter at all because aliens still have so many other bases left and probably started a counter attack already.
Aliens always have a chance for a comeback because a very cheap lifeform can sneak up a transport for the entire team to some place in the map and take down the entire marine base with just 2-3 of these units. And there is no way for marines to deny that kind of tech, since there is no prerequisite associated with it other than a small amount of pres and a Hive.
Can you trap Marines and Aliens in the chair at the same time?
Once as a Skulk in Terminal, I jumped into a CC the same moment the commander tried to retreat into it. The CC was closing, we were both trapped inside... tasty close quarters gore ensued. :P
I think I killed him just before the CC was completely closed, though, so not sure what happens when it does.
As the commander tell all marines to get into the chair ... then someone press the button to login.
When the inevitable alien rush comes into the room thinking they caught you out of position.. spring lose your trojan horse.
I can only imagine what the aliens would think if that awesome bug where you could eject from, and hide Exos in CC's still existed and you did this. )
Turtles are nothing more than a stale, lag ridden spamfest condensed to one corner of a map, and the outcome is always the same. It's a hideous abomination that plagued NS1 with its presence, and sadly, it continues to show its ugly face in NS2.

I've seen many game where rookies (and not so much rookies) actually enjoyed a lot that final battle.
Myself, i've been from "wow, so fun to shoot at those nasty aliens for 20mins" to "plz conceeeeeeeeeeeede" in a few hours of gameplay ^^.
And if you see the game is drawing for a hopeless 20min+ turtle, you could still go on another server.

Camping's a good job, mate! It's a cakewalk, in-doors... I guarantee you'll not go hungry, 'cause at the end of the day, as long as there one team being stacked with non-greens, another team is gonna get camped all day.

No, not really a point of view.
Turtles can be fun when they provide empowering gameplay. Ns2 clearly doesn't do that by lightyears. The only reason you see a minority of rookies enjoying turtles is because the game is so new to them that they
1) have very little understanding to base negative gameplay opinions off of
2) the novelty immersion factor overpowers everything else.
It isn't because ns2 turtles are inherently fun in a beauty in the eye of the beholder kind of way. Unless you are stooping as low as to reason that eating poop is nice for a minority of people (which i do not doubt is probable ofcourse).
I think Elodea you have defined 'noobs' as 'those who disagree with you.'
As a question of interest, roughly how old are you? I'm 25.
I think you see what you want to see, and hear the words you want to hear. Because you certainly lack the willpower to comprehend anything else. Only 25? Keep it up, you're definitely going places.
Oh, and congratulations btw. When was your birthday? Let me send you a card to show how much i care.
And the 1/20 turtles that end up being a marine comeback, they are the most funnest of them all.
They're in fact NEVER fun. Ever. And the "comebacks" only happen if both teams are really really bad, there are some "star" players on the winning team which leave after the game goes on for 10+ minutes of boring crap due to extremely painful lack of teamwork and are replaced with "star" players on the losing team. Cue another 40 minutes of slow grinding to undo the spiral that is inherent in RTS games. Some people like that crap; certainly not me. The glorious display of horrible performance of servers also contributes to my feelings about this. There's nothing more "very fun" than having to grind through tickrate in the single digits for those 40 minutes and both commanders only making it worse by spamming ridiculous amounts of structures/NPunits with the lol amount of t.res that they get during that time...
"Comebacks" from one team being beaten down to one room don't happen if you have the same players on both teams for the entire game. Unless one of the commanders falls asleep I guess... which is sadly also too frequent.
I enjoy having an unbreakable turtle with armory walls, sentries, 5 ip's, jetpacks, and advanced weapons, and an exo or two. I enjoy the troll factor of not giving the aliens that win they so deserve.

Why'd they remove the troll flag
The statement is not troll, but I do troll in game.

^ never seen a fade caught before but I've seen skulks and lerks be caught in them
Not tested, but I'm 100% sure that it is possible. Not in any normal game, though.

If I'm in the mood for the gameplay you see in turtles, I'll just join a combat server.

Yes, I would like to know this extremely relevant information as well.
