How do I play sounds inside the engine?

I'm looking for a console command or some function to play desired game sounds while I'm in the game. For example:

playsound gorgespit

Is there a way to do this?

Is there a way to possibly play a sound at a specific pitch using lua?

Not that I know of. You need FMOD to do that.

Well that is fine I found a way around it. I'm hoping to see if i can get a musical instrument type thing working using abc notation
