‘PUG’: Pick-Up-Game. A casual 6v6 format game of random or captain-picked players.
i.e. “I’m sick of playing on public servers, let’s PUG. pug-pug-pug-pug-pug-pug-pug-pug!”
‘Gather’: Same as a PUG.
‘Scrim’: An organised, friendly, 6v6 format game usually between two established teams/clans.
‘PUB’: Public server.
i.e. “too many PUGs all night for me, time to own some noobs in PUB then go to bed”
‘Captains’: A captain on each team responsible for picking 5 teammates each in a PUG. It is sometimes presumed that Captains will also be the team Commanders, but not a hard and fast rule.
i.e. “Captains, hurry up and pick!”
‘Pick’: In a PUG, two captains will pick 5 teammates from a pool of players waiting in the ready-room. Generally, the first captain will get to choose 1 player and then the second captain will get to choose 2 players and so forth. It is recommended in a PUG that the captains begin with choosing the highest skilled players first so that the game ends up being more evenly matched.
i.e. “Which foolish Captain didn’t choose Jekt or Lucas as their first pick? Now it’s stacked, GG”
‘Lifeforms?’: When playing as aliens, someone (usually the Commander) will ask “Lifeforms?” before the game starts. It is expected that the rest of the team respond by stating what their preferred alien lifeform evolution is.
i.e. Commander: “Lifeforms guys?” Player: “Gorge or Fade please, I hate Lerking”
‘re’: Replay/Restart. Usually when one side loses very quickly due to a rush or due to a major mistake they may ask the other team for the round to be replayed.
i.e. “Skulk rush, no mines, no IPs, marines dead. GG re?”
‘GG no re’: Good Game, no replay/restart. The Lucas rule, usually only applies in AusNS2 PUG matches to create fairness for those who have been waiting in the queue for the next PUG match to start. It is generally expected that matches should not be replayed in order to not disrupt the flow of PUG games throughout the evening.
i.e. Lucas2616: “if you were dumb enough not to research mines, that’s your own fault. No re!”
'cheese'. Cheesy tactic. Refers to a tactic being used to win the game or to kill opponents which is frowned upon from a sportsmanship perspective but still a legitimate tactic or mechanic to be used within the game.
i.e using 6 skulks to rush into the marine base during the first few seconds of the game.
Commander Cheese: "OK, everyone hide in the Skylights vent and let them run past, then evolve to gorge and hydra their base. CHEESE WIN!"
‘strats’: Strategies. Usually refers to the build-order and splits that the marines will use at the start of the game.
i.e. Marine: “Commander, what’s the strat?”
Comander: “Power build the arms lab, i’m rushing a1, w1 then shotties”.
‘splits’: Which way the marines should run at the start of the game, sometimes applies to aliens but it is generally expected that alien skulks will pack together at the start of the game.
i.e. Commander: “I want two going pressure through Hub, two to Logistics and the one remaining at base to build the Arms Lab then head to Observation”.
‘call (x)’: A request for someone to make a decision and direct the team in various things such as the Commander determining the Splits, players on the field calling how many enemies they can see or calling GG (conceding).
i.e. Player: “Call splits, quick”.
Player: “Call how many enemies?! (...that you can see)”
Player: “Daaaaamn we’ve lost this, let’s call gg”
‘pack’: Refers to teammates sticking close together as a group as to maximise their chance of winning engagements against the enemy. Usually used more when playing as Aliens.
i.e. Alien Commander: “I want the Lerks to pack Ventilation, there’s 1 shotgun and 1 LMG”
‘naturals’: Refers to the closest resource nodes adjacent to the marine and alien starting locations.
i.e. Commander: "Don't let the marines kill our naturals or we've lost this"
‘pressure team’: marines who are assigned with focusing on killing alien harvesters and upgrades as opposed to building extractors.
i.e. Marine Commander: “I want pressure team to shoot their naturals”
‘power-build’: Usually as a marine (or sometimes a gorge), to build a team structure as fast as possible. Usually happens at the start of the game when a commander wants the first structure built up quickly to unlock further parts of the tech tree. It may also be used mid-game when a marine commander wants the team to stop chasing aliens and focus on building a phase gate / armory / sentry gun etc...
i.e. Commander: “Stop shooting the skulk in that vent and power-build the phase gate!”
‘trap’ or 'pinch': To work as a team and block all possible exit paths of an enemy. If someone yells “trap them” you should immediately open your map and head to where you can block the enemy’s exit from a room. Traps are usually executed by Marines looking to kill a higher alien life-form.
i.e. Bonage: "pinch the fade.. pinch the fade.. GUYS! PINCH THE FADE!!!... jeeeezus..."
‘push’: To move forward / put pressure on a certain area.
i.e. Commander: “Guys push SubSector now, we can pinch this Onos”.
‘cap’: Capture. Build the extractor/harvester.
i.e. Commander: “Let’s cap Reactor Core then push on Atrium hive”
'rotate': after a player dies, on respawn they move to a different side of the map which needs more support.
‘sac’: Sacrifice. To forfeit something, usually a resource node or tech point which is under attack.
i.e. Marine: “Sub res is getting hit, can we save it?”
Commander: “no just sac it and push the Crossroads tunnel instead”
'pg': Phase-Gate
‘para’: Skulk Parasite weapon.
i.e. Alien Commander: “At the start of the game, don’t rush them, just get paras and ambush”.
Marine: “You better enter the room first, i’m para’d”
‘sweep’: To systematically move from one room to another checking for enemy players and structures.
i.e. Commander: “I want skulks to sweep all the res on the west side of the map”
‘res’: Resources.
‘res node’: Extractor or Harvester, sometimes used to refer to the location in the room where the extractor or harvester is built.
‘back-cap’: In NS2 it may refer to getting the last marine pushing out to build the resources and for those in the front to continue pressuring forward. It can also mean for a marine in a pressure group to pull away from the group and capture the resources behind them.
i.e. Commander: “Two of you keep pushing forward, Slowy McSlowface you can back-cap this res”.
‘gg’: Good Game. If said while a game is in progress then it is considered a concede.
‘ggs’ or ‘ggz’: Good Games (after playing more than one round). Contrary to Lucas’ disillusioned belief, it does NOT mean that you are leaving the server and wish to stop playing further rounds.
‘reg’: Hit registration.
i.e. Jekt: “i’ve just pumped a whole clip into Golden and he’s still alive. Reg pls"
'meat': Meat-shot. When you get a direct close-range shotgun blast on an alien. Usually said to indicate to teammates that a higher alien life-form is potentially very low on health.
i.e. Golden: "I just pumped 3 meats into Jekt's Fade and he's still alive. Reg pls"
'interp' or 'terp' or 'terp'd': interpolation. An online game network calculation mechanic which can lead to a delay in taking damage and inconsistencies in player locations, usually resulting in aliens getting killed after believing they have safely escaped around a corner. Usually affects those fighting someone with a high ping.
i.e. Jekt: "Phil, did you just lose your lerk?!"
Philogl: "yep, terp'd."
Jekt: "NS2."
Philogl: "I've been living with interp my whole life."
‘rekt’: The lazy/bogan/retarded way of spelling the word Wrecked.
i.e Xao: “youse got rekt cunce”
Everyone else: “why is Xao always so angry?”
Xao: “lel get rekt!!!!”
'flash':To die within an inappropriate amount of time after evolving into a higher life-form.
i.e. Commander: "Peter can you lerk?"
Peter: "I can... flash lerk"
'ripped': similar to meatshot, but with damage inflicted with LMG or HMG.
i.e. Jekt: "He's ripped! He's ripped!"
Kid: "he's got lots of muscles??"
Jekt: "No that fade is ripped, shoot him! jeeeeeeze"
ChupaChups: "FFS Jekt."
'Chip', 'Chipped' or 'Lit': indicates that an enemy has taken light-medium damage, usually from LMG.
i.e. Philogl: "all those skulks are chipped man"
Jekt: "None of them have taken any damage dude wtf I got 90 on each"
Philogl: "regen OP man"
'rt': resource tower. Extractor or Harvester.
'ninja': to act sneaky and not make any sound as to catch the enemy by surprise.
i.e. Commander: "Can I get someone to ninja a PG into cargo?"
'yolo', 'yolo'ing': To push into an area by yourself at high risk of dying, as opposed to attacking with teammates. Not recommended
i.e. Poonokio: "Stop yolo'ing into marines by yourself, we need to group up and pack Platform now!"
Aeyolo: "...but I just killed 3 marines by yolo'ing"

Comments
Indicative that an alien (usually) is close to dead, having taken a substantial amount of damage.
"That fade's lit!"
Good stuff!
I think this one was updated in the AusNS2 thread.
