Server browser not responding

Server browser isn't listing any server, it shows the the server I favorited but it like they're offline (can't see details, ping is 999, 0 players), for some reasons sometime the browser will work for a few minutes then stop working again.
I tried this:
When I´m connecting to a server, the connection fails. I´ve already checked if I´m connected to steam and if the same problem occurs also in other games.
This may be resolved by lowering the pings per minute setting in Steam. You can do this in the Steam settings under the "Downloads" tab and setting the "Game server browser: max pings / minute" pull down to 500.
But it doesn't work, my firewall isn't blocking NS2, heck I even disabled it and it still won't work.

I had a similar problem for a long time. Had to update serverlist many times before it would load and then wait a couple of min before i tried to join a server. If i didnt wait it would be a 50% chance that the connection would fail.

All the time i was suspecting my firewall (3rd party software) but it didnt help even if i turned it off.

What fixed my problem was that I uninstalled firewall, reboot, cleaned registry from faulty keys by running ccleaner, reboot, reinstalled firewall.

Now my serverbrowser works as it should and I have no connection failed anymore :)

    Link ccleaner: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

    Give it a try.

Ensure you are running the latest build (266) by checking the console (~ key) as soon as you are at the main menu
Ensure you are running steam in Online mode and then right click NS2 > properties > updates > select keep this game up to date (you'd be surprised..)
Ensure Comodo or any other AV isn't running.
Then DMZ your router TEMPORARILY FOR THIS TEST (its a security issue to leave it this way permanently)
Then try changing your steam server download region to another. (downloads section in steam settings)

If that works, then work your way back restoring one thing at a time until the problem resumes.
IF it doesn't work, then please upload your techsupport.zip after typing "net_log 3" in the console at the main menu before clicking on the server browser list
