Yeah Fade...what else could he replace? Certainly not Skulk, Gorge, or Lerk...Onos could be a possibility but the hydralisk design really doesnt fit the image of a massive charging beast.
Makes perfect sense. scythe like arms for swiping, and a hydralisk has its own kind of Acid rocket called spines. Only weird thing is the whole snake movement instead of running, but its too cool to matter.

Interestingly enough, the Hydralisk "easter egg" model in Warcraft 3 is practically high enough in detail to be ported directly to HL/NS - it's 550 polys! The skin would need some work. Here's a screen...
*** NOTE: This screen is from the Warcraft 3 World Editor; while I have the model in mdx, obj, 3ds, and max formats, that's still a long way from being ready. It also needs some structural work, as it was designed to be seen from a top-down perspective only; for instance, the jaws are visible from the front/top. And that's not to mention skinning/animating.

Yes, for you people who haven't play StarCraft, it's an overhead strategy game. And it's a bit old, but still one of the best games ever. That means though, in the game, a Hydralisk is fairly small, so they have to do this skinning work off of concept art and other art from the Blizzard and such.
So please, they're doing a lot more than you think, plus, their not doing a conversion, so stop asking about if it's a conversion <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
Anyway, I just kinda got sick of noone being clarified on what was going on, and to give some respect that's due to the folks working on this.
Also, whoever is doing the animations, make sure you get a good winding slither motion, not too waide, so it stays in a normal hitbox area, but I'm sure that can be fixed. So far, look sexcelent, and I'm glad you folks are putting effort into it. I give you much applause.
