I think the next patch (after 1.04) will be a client patch

1.1... I wouldn't expect it any time soon though.

1.1 is already in the planning stages (and that means more than just "oh, we should make 1.1"), it means what Flayra wants to get done has been decided. Work on it should begin in the near future.

Is there any preliminary list ? It might be a good idea to post it on the website just so we can see what to expect. Of course, the decision is left to the Devs, its only my suggestion.

No list yet. 1.04 first, then the team can worry about 1.1

Can you say whether there will be any real big changes to the basic game, or will it just be more number balancing (not that balancing is bad, just curious)?

Being a client side patch, you can expect certain changes to be made to the existing game structure, such as r_drawviewmodel being locked to 1 and things like that. The interface and the model hit box might be affected as well, Flayra is probably compiling a list of interface/client side issues that he can address together with the 1.1 patch.

Balancing issues will likely be controlled via the release of 1.1x server side patches because the relavant code resides on the server to prevent cheating.

Honestly, I'd much rather not have the 'list of pending client changes' posted. Some discussions on the forums can get pretty heated, even when talking about stuff that has very little to do with any game changes!!

Someone will post an idea, then a half-dozen bloodthirsty forum veterans will pounce on the fresh meat. The kinder, gentler veterans (<i>ie: forum moderators and devs</i>) then come in with a firehose to cool everyone down, or to simply throw their thread into the brig. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I can just imagine some of the conversations that will ensue if/when the almighty list of pending changes gets posted. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Everyone is an idea man, they just don't go around making the ideas happen.

There will be a client patch after the 1.04 patch is released.

Of course, some of the maps will be tweaked, like Eclipse (see the mapping forum), or, *hopefully*, the Steam Generation pg exploit in Bast. The alien resource recycling will "be revisited," and I *think* VAC may be added.

I've heard in 1.1 that you play a scientist and have to escape from a research facility! Sounds like a blast!

Or, check out the thread in Kharaa strats, where Flay at least said he's probably going to mess with Sensory chambers, to make them more appealing to the 'masses'

Did I hear someone asking when 1.1 would be out?

    <img src='http://www.rpi.edu/~goetzm/whenitsdone.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

And at least give Flayra a chance to finish up 1.04 before you go nuts over 1.1.... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Yep, after v1.04 is finished (some day Real Soon Now), I'll start working on v1.1. There will be a huge number of changes for v1.1, and some of the core gameplay will change and improve. There will probably be a couple new maps, VAC support will be added, HLTV support will be added, demo playback support will be improved, Commander mode will be improved (hotgroups, select-all marines, minimap fixes, etc), features needed for CAL and competitive support will be added, and tons more.

It's going to be a significant update, and because of various RL issues, I have no way of knowing how long it will take at this point.

You take all the time you need Flayra. It's not like we're not used to it.

    *Sigh*

    DoD 4.0
    FLF 2.0
CS 1.6 (allright, on with the flames)
    BG 1.0 (Really fun mod)

Updates every two weeks aren't enough for you?

NS is coming along quite quickly. It was beautiful when it was released, and only got better with subsequent patches. 1.04a-d have all been incerdably fun (even the "I'm infected!" bug, at least it's a FUNNY bug <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> ), I'm simply drooling over 1.1

Flayra, you're going more than fast enough. With a changelog like 1.04 has accrued, most projects would take months to come up with something that long.
