I think they nerfed its availability in a recent update for some reason.
Hopefully they allow us to craft a salt extractor at some point so we don't have to hunt for it. (really all we need to do it evaporate sea water and we can get salt easily enough, so it shouldn't even be a hard to acquire resource, much like sand = silicone.
You can find huge amount of salt near the Aurora wreckage (along with scrap metal). Also you can find salt in many biomes (Grassy Plateau, Mushroom Forest), not just in shallow water.
@Silveressa I am looking forward it too. I love survival mode but it is really tiresome to spend half of the time in the game collecting salts and chasing fish in order not to starve/die of dehydration.
Salt, though the last time I played was a few days ago in experimental was slightly harder to find than I remember but more spread out I would suggest looking in kelp forests
The salt availability issue should be solvable with some tech upgrades. Lets say there was some form of large plant life that accumulated salt from the surrounding waters. This would mean a renewable salt source. Another thought, what if there were rocks that with tech upgrades could be mined for salt or other minerals. With the rocks to mine the long search for salt would be mitigated as you find it in large quantities.
Major concern is renew ability with salt. The last thing I wasn't to see is an area becoming uninhabitable because you already found all the salt.
