Language in game

Hi guys, is in Subnautica something like open text files ?
I want translate this game to my native Language, I know that it will be expensive to add sounds for other countries (maybe this will solve the problem https://www.ivona.com), but the best option will be add subtitles with external text file.

    There is an outdated Polish language file in the Steam folder, but I suggest you replace it with the English language file which is more up to date, and then you translate all the bits. It's a lot of work though, the file has currently 500 lines. Sadly, not everything can be translated yet, but I did this for the German language and it works fine except for some things which are still in English. I'll make a thread about my translation when I find out how to translate the rest. The language files are here: Steam\SteamApps\common\Subnautica\SNUnmanagedData\LanguageFiles

    Until then, I could upload my translation on your GitHub project if you tell me how to do it.

    1) Create account on GitHub.com
    2) Open Link
    3) Click on Fork - under main bar (top) on right side. (u will create your copy of my project)
    4) Download Visual Studio 2013 or 2015 with Git protocol support and clone your project to PC.
    5) Modify/Add/Delete files and commit next sync and u will see results on-line (in GitHub service).
    6) I will accept those changes to my project and push to my master.

    No way to just edit a text file or something like Aegisub (tool for series fansub) ?

    Nope this is only program to edit some text, GitHub is a some like repository for team.

    I'd rather just use Notapad++ tbh. I've started on translating into danish but sure needs a few people to fine tune it as well.

    Thanks for the translations guys. We appreciate any help we can get on this. Setting up an official way of doing translations and hooking that up with our build process has been on our task list for a long long time. I hope we'll finally see it happen in the next few days. Lukasz is on the job. It will likely be a website based translation interface much like OneSky. Don't worry about all the effort you've already put into this project, it will be easy to transfer everything over to the website when its done.

    why not just make a huge file with all the in game text. then someone just translates it all and then they send it to the devs and the devs add it in. That seems the easiest way imo.

    I find it difficult to translate to danish as some sentences would have an inversion at some point or another.
    Also, some words in english have more than one meaning in danish.

    For instance "Pick up Scrap Metal" (Saml Scrap Metal op) is not the same as "Picked up Scrap Metal" (Opsamlet Scrap Metal)
    (There is a better word to use in this case (indsaml Scrap Metal/indsamlet Scrap Metal) but it's the mere principle I'm talking about

    What I'm getting at, is that to make some really good translations, we would need to be able to alter the way words are arranged in-game.
    I think that in order to that, we would need to have one of every possible sentence in the language file, which TBH, doesn't sound very feasible.

    As long as the translation string allows for dynamic placement of the subject/object, I don't see why this would be a problem.
    English version:
    pick_up=Pick up %object%
    picked_up=Picked up %object%

    Danish translation (forgive me if this is wrong):
    pick_up=Saml %object% op
    picked_up=Opsamlet %object%

    That would be great if they implemented something like that. Right now it's just
    pick_up=Pick Up
    picked_up=Picked Up
    scrapmetal=Scrap Metal

    and that's it, so the game automatically puts the words together from all the relevant lines in the correct order which has been hard coded into the language file/game. To add an identifier would be magnificent for perfect translations.

    Hi, do I need to sing up/get special invitation? Or it will be like http://translate.unknownworlds.com ?
