Controller Support

I know a lot of guys on Pc like using QWERTY to play their games, I find it odd that lately on PC RTS's are starting to use full controller support like Xcom, actually that's stupid you can take your time and ponder your moves, On a first person game especially with no lethal weapons I think it levels the playing field if I can make split second moves without saying awe damn I missed the down arrow. Also it would help cater to those of us Veteran Pc guys that have been playing since Commodore 64 with carpal tunnel. I loved Red Orchestra but got tired of using almost every key on the keyboard to do what I can do easily on Battlefield with a controller, and a few button presses. A similar game to this called Planet Explorers added this and brought me back to it immediately. In these days where the same games are on next gen also, You would fare better to cater to that crowd also, its an excellent game and if you did that would draw more console guys to this port. Don't let a few QWERTY etremists scoot you guys out of more money...

    If you look in the options you'll see there are the basic controller options, not sure if they work of not, but they're there. Personally I use the keypad over qwerty, being left handed. The keypad keys can be entered into the game, but they don't work as yet.

    The problem with using only a controller, is the games usually become boring limited console games, with horrible graphics, sound, limited gameplay. Like ALL console games are. Pc games on the other hand are unlimited in every aspect.

    I have xbox, playstation and pc. I've owned a commodore 64, spectrum, sega and amiga before. Console games are for kids and people with a little time for gaming. Pc gaming is for people who want to waste a whole weekend and a game should not be limited because people don't want to spend time on it.

    There should however be options, to allow for joysticks, upright mice, trackerballs extended keyboards, since these tools can make some aspects of gaming either easier or more fun. But they should not limit it.

    I am a firm believer in controller support for PC games IMO the Xbox 360 controller as it has MS support already. I am a PC master race guy through and through. It is just ergonomics, aesthetics and ease of use for so many games. Like I work at a desk for a living, I HATE having to come home to enjoy my games while using a K&M.

    The K&M are and always will be around. No one is taking that away. I just like sitting back in my Chair without a clunky A*# keyboard on my lap and needing a decent spot for my mouse.

    TO ADD TO THAT-->

    Google Steam Link and Steam Controller. All steam games come NOV will have full controller support. Per the Steam Controller. However I have not tested the hardware so it could flop and be junk. It look promising.

    If you were maybe doing driving games or flying.. but I don't see the point in j/s support for this game. Keyboard is enough. Might be useful for the moth, if you were using it alot. And I hate the xbox controller.. it's too small. Ps controller is tiny. (for me)

    I think the problem is subjective.. people see j/s control and assume the pc game is a console port.. and that hit's sales. Pc Gamers, don't want console ports, they look like something off the gameboy. They want games that look like Subnautica. You know, if they added multiplayer.. imagine the racetracks you could make with the beacons.. moth racing... then i'd probably want a controller too.

    Yeah I totally disagree. Not forcing you to use a controller. Just implementing support for it if you do. I could care less if you play with a controller or not. Other people do and many other PC games have integrated controller support.

    Ergonomically and Aesthetically Controllers are better IMO. I understand K&M players as I have my whole life. I just prefer Controller. I like laying back in my seat without making space for a K&M.

    Every player has an opinion. PC's are trying to get a placeholder in the Console market.

    This is why we are seeing Steam Machines, Steam link and the great looking Steam Controller that will provide full controller support for any game VIA steam.
