Hi everyone! Quite a few people at Unknown Worlds use Mac’s for development and day-to-day tasks. Charlie and Steve are probably the heaviest users, and Max develops on Mac hardware...

Interesting explanation and hopefully this will stem some of the reports and angry fish! I always like finding out the inner workings. The said steam Depot is neat. This is why I don't run a Mac to many games are not cross compatible to OSX. And lets be honest, I can handbuild and select a PC and cannot with a Mac. That is my biggest issue, that and cost. haha

Looking forward to a Mac Version of Subnautica at some point in the future. I'll most probably buy the game as soon it is available on Mac as it's developing into quite an interesting thing at the moment.

Also: "We’re not sure how this will affect* (...)", right?

Sure the games only for PC and I have a PC but it's wayyyy to slow and old, I have a great working and fast Mac. Is there a official release date for the Max version because I'm getting it the second it comes out!

I've been following Unknown Worlds since the announcement of NS2. As a Mac owner I've always hoped to play NS2 on my Mac one day, I remember reading a FAQ that said it was "a possibility" I watched 1000s of hours of NS2 gameplay (all of the NS2HD videos), but I never played the game myself since it never came to Mac. I was more than happy to see Subnautica was being build with Unity, "finally an Unknown Worlds game I will be able to play!". I pre-ordered the game! I've watching gameplay videos of the game from the start, just like I did with NS2... still waiting to play something from Unknown Worlds...

Anyone know how to sign up for the experimental versions, or is that a ultimate edition only thing?

@Lagiacrus - Buy game (on steam). Right-click game->Properties->Betas Tab-> Set to Experimental mode. Restart steam.

If Subnautica does come out on the Mac, would that maybe lead to NS2 on the Mac? I haven't played it in ages because I got tiered of using wine, and I would love to play it again.

UWE is actively researching on the feasability of an OSX version of Subnautica. They even recently started acquiring OSX testing hardware.

NS2 is written with a completely different engine than Subnautica. So no NS2 in sight.

They switched to x64, dropping the x32 support of windows platforms. The percentage of x32 owners was so low that it wasn't feasible for the game to be shackled by the x32 restraints, and since the switch runs much better for most. You can put in for a refund if you wish, but a warning needs to be put on steam about the incompatibility, if not already.

Tell me back if I'm wrong (I'm french and have not understand all the article properly) but one year later the problem still persists... Today I purchase Subnautica on steam because of the apple logo and off course it doesn't work: impossible for me to use the knife for example, or any action item I'm equipped with. Oh and I cannot grab sand (I have seen it can be useful for crafting). So I hope there will be solutions in the futur for OSX users.

However it's very good, impatient to really play at this game !

@Tristan02 Unity has a bug with MacOSX with AZERTY Keyboards (which they are still taking time to fix). If you switch your input to QWERTY you will be able to play properly.
