So after much struggling, I managed to get 3D Vision to work!
1) Disable Aero, Disable Sli (you may not have to disable Aero, and I haven't fully tested, but read that 500 series cards had issues in windowed 3D mode, and I'm using 2x 580's)
2) Under 3D in Nvidia Control Panel, set 3D mode to "always"
3) Start a game you know works in windowed 3D (I chose Diablo 3) and once 3D is activated, switch to windowed mode (ie, diablo 3 in windowed)
4) Start Subnautica (I'll update as I learn more, but for now used the -force-d3d9 switch)
5) Once in game, use alt+enter to switch to windowed mode. For me, this finally activated 3D in Subnautica.
6) Alt + Enter and enjoy.
Biggest issue seems to be the UI. The mask is rendered terribly and is way popping out and split on both sides. Use F6 twice to remove the ui and mask, and you can enjoy some exploration. Shadows don't render properly, so I'm looking to turn those off. Also, the light effect the surface places on the sand (the waving white translucent lines) don't sem to render quite right, they seem almost floating above the ground slightly, looking to remove but not a big deal.
So far, it's not fully playable like this, but wow.. looks awesome. I can only image what 3D the rift users get to experience. I'm gonna try and bribe Helix to work on this game, by shooting him a copy and offering some beer money. He did great work with The Long Dark, so hopefully.
And if any devs read this.. c'mon hook us up! 3D in a game like this would be so immersive! I'm sure the community will figure it out eventually, but would be awesome if you could use that Unity 3D plugin I keep reading about ;p
