Hi, I buyed game on steam and like idiot haven't check system requirments. When try to play I have an "unknown error". Dear developers please lower them, for me and other players with weak computers. There are my computer specifications:

Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz 2.27 GHz
Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB
Windows Vista 32-bit

They can't just lower the system requirement. I believe that would ruin the graphics and the overall experience of the game, Though it might get more optimized along the road!

And i believe the game require 64-bit? That might be your problem then! (:

Yes the game requires a 64-bit system.

this explains how they came to that decision
    http://unknownworlds.com/subnautica/64-bit-not-64-bit/

basicly you are among a very unlucky minority

    You have 2 options:
1- Maybe you can upgrade? If not...
2- Steam, sometimes will refund a purchase. This is entirely up to Valve and UWE has no say in the matter. If you contact steam support and explain the situation, they may give you a refund or credit or something. This is hit or miss though, so I don't want to get your hopes up.

As others have stated, lowering the system requirements is not an option.

According to this specification for your chip:

    http://ark.intel.com/products/35569/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-P8400-3M-Cache-2_26-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB

It's 64-bit, meaning you could upgrade to vista 64-bit (I believe its a free upgrade) from your current 32bit version and possibly run the game. Although, even if you could get the game to run, performance would likely be poor.

You have 4Gb of RAM which makes you elegible for upgrading to x64bits and for the love of god don't use Vista, upgrade to 7 or 8 but stay away from Vista.

As I understand it, you can upgrade your Windows version to 64-bit free of charge.

Without knowing what your GPU ("Graphics Card") is, it is hard to tell if Subnautica would run after making such a change.

We always endeavour to keep minimum specifications low. We make every effort to define inclusive minimum specifications, and to carefully consider the effects of our minimum specification decisions. Unfortunately, there is a limit to what hardware we can reasonably support. The E8400 is at this stage over seven years old, which is roughly the life cycle of game consoles. It would be very hard for us to reliably support hardware dating from that era.

And if you are not currently running on a budget then it can be recommended that you upgrade your setup from scratch.

You can get a mid-end desktop computer for around ~800$ which may or may not be a lot of money but its an investment of several years if treated properly.

    Check out for:
    • I suggest a Quad-Core CPU like an Intel i5 or a Dual-Core i3 will suffice
    • A minimum of 4Gb of RAM
    • HDD capacity is up to you but I guess 500Gb is fine
    • These days a Graphics card with 1Gb of VRAM is highly recommended. an Nvidia GTX series 4xx/5xx/6xx is good.

Things like the PSU (power source unit), desktop case and motherboard should already be covered if you are buying an assembled PC but other I/O devices like CD readers, Headphones, Mouse/keyboard and monitor are entirely up to you and your budget.

Just make sure you research what hardware you buy and what companies you buy from.

For power supplies I recommend corsair
For motherboards I recommend ASrock (Easy to use bios, extremely feature packed boards even on micro-atx)
    for GPU's I recommend gigabyte
For ram there are several companies, but I generally use Kingston
For solid state drives I use samsung, even though they have some of the worst support in the industry and released a firmware which killed hundreds of drives and made no announcement or even gave a warning.
For standard hard drives I use Western Digital Caviar Blue drives

Disk drives anything really, my disk drive was like $15

But feel free to use whoever, I just find those companies to make very reliable parts.

Stay away from window 8 more like!

I run windows 8.1 and I HATE it.

I have another laptop which is Vista and it runs *better* than the darn windows 8!

Ok looked at the gpu for subnatica and WHEN i seen the price for the gpu I went ape why would you want someone to buy a pice of hardware at THAT price either make a laptop setting dev or can I use a Asus AMD Radeon R7 250 1GB GDDR5 Graphics Card (PCI Express 3.0, HDMI, DVI-D, 128 Bit)

The Radeon R7 250 is twice as powerful as the minimum required GPU for Subnautica. If the R7 250 is too expensive, there are many cheaper options. GPUs that are more powerful than Subnautica's minimum requirements come included for free with many Intel CPUs.

LOL, what spec is the machine running win8??

    Win8 is 64bit only.

I got rid of vista by upgrading to Win7 on my laptop, and my main PC has Win 8. As some-one who has been using Microsoft programs heavily since MS-Dos days, I can say, win 8 is a great operating system, and performs faster than Win7, which is why, after originally Dual-Booting my PC, it is now Win 8 only. Vista is a Virus in MS-Clothing, lol.

I'll be keeping Windows 7 probably until Windows 10 gets released (this summer?) and they offer the free upgrade. It's looking like Windows 10 should be pretty solid.
