Just a quick one..
When about to go for that Hive or some other strategic location, try giving one specific trooper the job to sneak his way into alien territory to get a few shots in at a hive (if possible) or a res node. Hide and repeat. 2 - 3 skulks will usually be of chasing him while your squad set up camp.
This might be obvious rather than clever, but you never know

I just like the name. It's effective too.
1) Shooting the hive then doing a runner/hiding very well.
2) Shooting offence chambers very close to a siege location then doing a runner/hiding.
Nothing else is going to work unless your confident of your ability to kill a good 2-3 skulks one at a time because if you just shoot the hive and then try covering yourself you'll have one skulk come in, kill you run around and say to everybody else 'ok guys looks like it was a newbish rambo'.
The key, is inducing... panic.

I think that was me, way back when. 'Course, since I know that marines can do that, I usually check around the hive for signs of marine activity. If they're there, I do my best to kill 'em, and shout over voicecomm for backup.

When they figure out you're sealing a hive, if you can spare a troop or two, its good idea to run for the second (hopefully) empty hive right away. Aliens are usually to busy to notice you then when franticly attacking the invaders of the first hive.
Hehe... my fav spot... even more sinister if you have a jetpack. If you look up when behind that semitransparent wall ther is a little ledge that i thing you can stand on. Never got a chance to try it though.
The great thing about having a parasite, is that the aliens come to you. Its a great distraction, and takes the pressure away from the main group of marines.
Infact, I love parasite so much now, I often hope to get parasited at the beginning of the game. There was one game where I lasted about half an hour with a parasite.
