I've been thinking, will the devs keep the Reaper Leviathan "guarding" the Aurora even at full release?
Or will move the creature to another intimidating and/or scarier biome..?
I think they will stay where they are. Why move them away? That would make fixing up the Aurora a walk in the park. (except for those annoying crabs and the bleeders, of course)
They have more scary and dangerous creatures they are working on. Like the crab snake, the sea emperor, that squid creature ... I'm sure we'll find many dangers in different zones. They can afford to keep the Reaper guarding the Aurora.
Though I think it would be interesting to have them move after you fixed the ship. Maybe the radiation was what attracted them in the first place and they look for a new habitat later down the line?
I don't have an issue with them guarding the Aurora, since that means you almost have to have the Cyclops to get to her, at which point you'll board her and be out of reach.
The problem I have is that they wander into the nearby grassy plateau and 'safe' shallows zones. I got ambushed in the safe shallows at the SW corner of the Aurora, and I was still far enough away I hadn't noticed I'd gotten particularly close to her. I shot a fully charged stasis shot at him so I could escape, but the shot went through his body so I'm thinking they're immune to that.
In my opinion, the better way to prevent player access to looting the Aurora would be to just make it wait a few more days before blowing up.
Yeah dunno about the ones around the aurora but iv definately encountered them out in deep sea while I was puttering around in my cyclopse hunting for the new floating islands. Nothing says Ermehgerd like a hellish roar and a reaper trying to have sex with your sub when you can't even see anything else but dark water.
I was puttering around in my Cyclops too, but hunting biomes I hadn't yet been able to find. I discovered the entire map has random reapers outside of the finished biomes, even before the void starts, but the reaper that made me ':|' the most was the one in a mushroom forest NE of the spawn.
Yes, he's there because the Aurora is there, but the darn thing was swimming around the mushroom trees and I wouldn't have been able to explore the area outside my Cyclops.
Edit: I mistook some hand-placed Reapers in an unfinished part of the map as randomly spawned reapers around the edge. A Trello card talks about a brand new Dunes biome getting its loot and creatures put in, and how its visuals are pretty much in place right now, and has Reapers put in as placeholders because the visuals and the Reapers were finished at about the same time.
It seems like it's undecided if the reapers will stay in the dunes or not. If you want a peek at them or the biome, they're on the West side of the map in stable.

They will still guard the aurora, but the other reapers will be further out into the ocean.
I think thats a bug and they disappear after cause i never foudnd them.
Until you realize that the Reapers can phase through earth to get you
