Game Saves - Devs Please Answer

Hi Devs
Not sure if this is a bug or the norm but I wanted to raise it anyway as it is something causing me concern.
I have build 21956
I am running Subnautica on Windows 10
I play Freedom mode
I am concerned about my game saves. Whenever I save a game I get no choices as to whether I want to save to a new slot or to overwrite an existing one. My saves are automatically overwritten. Therefore when I come to load a game I only have the one game save file on offer to load.
My game saves are currently at 1.28GB. I read somewhere that large bases can cause large save files but I don't consider my base to be huge (see picture below).
My questions/concerns are:
Should I be getting more than one save file created when I save a game?
Why are my game saves so big?
Are there any reported proplems with running Subnautica on Windows 10?
I would really appreciated some dev input this to put my mind at ease.
Thank you Devs, you are all doing an awesome job with this game.

Still hoping that a dev is going to respond to this enquiry of mine please. Thank you.
The game is always saved in the same slot from where it was loaded.
As I know that is normal/intentional, to get a new slot you must start a new game... at least in the experimental branch, not sure but I think it is already included in the stable branch too.
Anyway there is a workaround:
you can duplicate the save folder - copy the folder using a different name leaving it in the same folder as the original (...\Subnautica\SNAppData\SavedGames\) - Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V in windows explorer will do the magic!
Not sure about that, but my world is 714MB after about 5 hours in game and a not too big base.
Probably the terrain/world is generated as you explore it and everything must be saved since everything can be changed: resources taken, bases added, terrain terraformed, ...
Just my thoughts...
Many thanks for your reply it is much appreciated, and thank you for the save game slot suggestion.
If you have a save game file of 714MB after 5 hours of play then my huge file size after 70+ hours of play seems about right. Hopefully the devs will find a more efficient method of saving data into game saves as they progress with this game. This game is so good already that it's so easy to forget that it's only in PB/Alpha at the moment.
Don't know why the devs haven't commented I guess they are vary busy.
Understood. Many thanks for taking the time to reply. It's vary appreciated.
