i just got this game a week ago and i am extremely impressed by it so far. it was such a breath of fresh air to see a survival game that was not zombies or a minecraft ripoff
i have a few ideas that i personally think would be fantastic to add to this game i didn't search too far to see what people have already suggested so if i cover something that already has been brought up i apologize in advance
1: first thing that the game struck me as needing was a ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle for those who aren't down on the lingo) i figured it could be tethered to a sub (or attached to a base) that sits in between the cyclops and seamoth in size and would take a lot more power to use than the cyclops (due to the fact that it needs to power a second vehicle). the sub would have a limited length tether to the rov (something like 200 meters at first) and could be possibly upgraded by using creep vine and copper. the rov itself could have a max depth of 500 meters at first and be upgradable just like the other ships to go deeper (the advantage of an rov is that since it doesn't need glass or to hold a person it can be built stronger and go deeper than a standard sub). the rov should also have tools and storage baskets so that its actually useful (otherwise it would be pointless to have) make it so that certain materials are in these super deep sections, (the devs would need to establish a max safe limit for diving if that were to happen so that players would have a reason to use it) the robotic arms should be able to carry stuff like scrap metal up to the mothership thanks to its robotic arms. of course the rov would not be without danger. the local fauna might get atack it, the cord might break or the camera will get broken. the only way to know for sure would be to reel it back and check
2: ships when destroyed beyond repair drop scrap metal and little bits of loot. not enough to rebuild the ship but some stuff that will help you out a little.
3: different power sources for the cyclops. i would love to have a reactor instead of power cells, or maybe hydrogen power (ill elaborate in idea 5)
4: im pretty sure that i saw this somewhere but why not lithium ion or polymer batterys?
5: hydrogen production to fuel subs. having hydrogen power in the subs would be a pretty sweet feature imo (you could also use it to make the high altitude balloon sattelite idea that i saw in another thread a reality)
6: weather and waves.... this is an ocean your in. we should have natural currents, waves, and weather. no natural planet is this perfect (unless its not natural )
thats all for now. i plan on modeling the rov as a concept so keep an eye out for that soon
if anyone has anything they would like to add to my ideas, post away
