Looks like they reverted it in the latest update, unfortunately. Long distance textures were glitching out badly for me underwater, but the sky looked amazing. Here's hoping they get the kinks worked out soon, because it really does look good.
I want to wait until they are fully finished before I experience them for myself.
yeah probably best because the screenshots showed some things that actually need fixing still. like the under the water looking at the aurora the textures kinda... break. i guess

That really does look amazing. Is the fog effect in large bases gone? also, if a base has a room at the water level, will the water surface effect be in that room like it is currently?
Tried it out on experimental to see for myself; and I think the new update is fantastic! My only concern is that I'm not able to fully experience it, because for the most part the lighting and textures have been bugging out. It's a great improvement, but having such an overhaul like that to the sky and water can leave quite a lot of problems.
The biggest problem being the kelp forest. The creepvine turns black and it's really annoying. But for this update, I understand why. I can't wait to see how it looks after the bug fixes.

There's alot of bugs and rendering issues still, but now I get what all the work went into.
I thought the game looked good already, but what's being done to the graphics now, puts the stuff we already have to shame.
