Had the funnest time today playing as a fade with redemption + celerity on the COFR friends server. I know, everyone says carp + adrenaline, but if you change your playing style and think of the fade as more of a really big skulk then a rocket launching soldier from TFC, you can have a lot of fun.
Redemption is to save you because you'll be playing at close quarters using your swipe instead of your acid rocket. For the same reason, celerity will get in you close very quickly without the risk of getting stuck in random things that blink has. Great fun!
So I'm kinda wondering, what other good upgrade options are there for the various classes?
For example, an umbra-ing lerk with regeneration is a great asset. They hardly ever get hit and can regen almost as fast as they get hurt (except for grenades).

I love how It feels like I have a constant DC right by me.
Lerks can use umbra, heal that one hit and keep shooting spines.
Fades use the hit and run, speed and regeneration works wonders!
silence/cloak-don't worry about it anymore, no one can ever go ninja after 2 hives anymore
silence/regen- just walk behind them, wait for them to forget you're there, and crush them (oh yeah, they can't hear you heal!)
carp/celerity-really fast tank.
carp/adren-regen/adren - popular fade acid-spam tactic
carp/adren- The way to go if you're a gorge (mm, web-healspray spam)
silence/redemption- "did I get him? Did I get him?"
I left out things like carp/scent of fear (and adrenaline) because everyone who is anyone knows that gorges that build sensories first are shot and chastized by their own team.
my favorite combo--Silence/cloak/regen- NINJA!
I like to skulk-rush with cara/celerity, You're really fast and can take a lot of bullets, took down some ha this way
Anyone doubt my numbers?
Man it would be great to be able to choose any upgrade from the start, as long as appropriate chamber was built(this means all chambers are buildable even with 1 hive only.), in the way of '# of hives=max # of upgrade types'...
Carapice is really not an option though for anything less than onos you can get suprised and taken down in a single LMG clip

People should change their playing style more - it keeps the game exciting. That's why I sometimes drop a sensory first as a gorge if I know most of the people on my team (otherwise I just get hours of abuse in-game and in IRC and on the server's forums - people are so broad-minded :/ )
they'll stick with what they know works....which means that until 1.1 makes Sensory equally viable in the early-game and this is proven to the average player then we won't see much deviation
well, deviation without bitching I mean
Against what? Marines without any upgrades???
Because if there would be HA, HMG you would die really fast without carapace, or if weapons power is at level 2 or 3.
The only real way to stay alive against HMG's is carapace.
HMG's rip thru regenartion fades at will becuase you can't regen quick enough to stop that output of bullets.
I haven't played Fade in a long time (not since I got hooked on Lerk!) but I think I would either go with the usual Carapace/Adrenaline or maybe Silence/Regeneration/Cloaking
