i thought that the developers could make another large ship that had sunk to the bottom of the ocean that everyone had thought that it was just a legend and you find it deep underground.
I think that a large ship on the bottom would be interesting...although I have no idea what the devs plan, it would be cool for that to be included in part of the story.
the whole nose of the aurora is missing why not have it on the bottom some where fully explorable. why does it need to be some ship on a planet that's only got us on it and possibly some survivors from the earlier expedition who came before us, who else left those abandon bases.
They could add another ship, perhaps we were not the first to come here. On top of that we have only glimpsed the slightest fraction of the planet. Perhaps there are intelligent beings elsewhere on the planet.
Thats a good point actually there was another ship before us, the one that brought the people that built those abandon bases all over the place, I wonder if perhaps their ship got shot down as well where is that crash site.

the way I see it, those bases were built by other survivors. they have the exact same technology as we do. if it was built by natives or another crash-landed ship, they would have different tech.
After pondering a bunch of replies to word out, I decided that it's best to suggest that you wait and see what the background story to the game is first. There is just so many things that would be illogical about having other crashed ships on the planet.
There can be an old ship in a very deep part of the island and once you get there and explore the wreckage you manage to recover the "Black Box"(it would be something cooler sounding), once you manage to get it working using a new type of workbench(an electronics bench) you find out that the ship was here several year before yours and that it was there because earth was detecting strange signals from that planet. After some more reading you find out that the ship was shot down by the same unknown energy wave as you. I was also thinking that you could eventually find some type of sea base(abandoned) built by a survivor of the crashed ship, the base would have all types of research including something that adds a massive creature(something half the size of the Aurora) to your PDA. Inside there would also be research on an alien life form, the one that shot down the 2 ships, maybe even a PDA profile for some type of intelligent alien.
as of experimental scanner updates, story was changed so that now we arent sole survivor from terraforming ship. we are at least one survivor of 101 man mining vessel that came to planet to conduct 3 year mining operation
a freakin' alien ship that was there thousands of years prior when there was a thriving alien underwater metropolis and some fragments of alien tech to scan!!!
If there was an Alterra survey mission on the planet prior to Aurora's arrival (as evidenced by recently discovered base wreckage), it stands to reason that the wreckage of their support vessel might be found at some later stage of the game.
What if you had hardmode, without the ship, and then when playing normally you find out that the sunken ship was your ship from hardmode, degraded over many years?
Apparently only in the Experimental build, so far. Same for the water filtration tech fragment and various other stuff.
Playing Freedom mode currently, and have still to find anything useful in the large chunk of wreckage besides a first-aid kit.

This will allow us to obtain end game goals. Or just have lots of fun and awe.
