Idea 1

Basically, I have an idea. What if you were able to take a Reefback, or a Reefback baby, and use the adult to build a base? Basically, you could take the larger Reefbacks, hopefully ones with actual reefs on their backs, and like build a base on one. Maybe you could even hack into it's nervous system allowing you to temporarily "drive" it, but mostly, you go where it goes. I think that would be a nice mechanic. Maybe you could use them as nurseries for plat and animal life you want to keep. I think there could be so many possibilities with this idea. Tell me what you guys think and your ideas. I'd like some feedback on this.

I used to have this idea ages ago, and I'd sort of given it up and changed my mind to farming in a reefback; it'd fit the name perfectly.
But here's the problem with both your suggestion and mine : reefbacks move and beacons don't. You could take forever to find your base/farm again. So here's another suggestion : be able to upgrade the beacons or to make another type; one that sticks to solid things. If you put one on a reefback you'll never loose it. Problem solved.

and what about the moonpool, the interactions between player and base components, the lifeforms loaded in aquariums. This is so many problems and thinking about a base on a reefback this would be ugly.. where do you put the moonpool ? By start you need to cover it with foundations ?

Well, I'm no computer savy, It was just an idea. Maybe the fish could have a sort of "tether" mechanic, where they simply stick on or around the reefback, and do their thing there. As for the moonpool, maybe you could have a slightly different structure where there is a simple airlock-like docking strcuture that hold the seamoth in place, and allows you to upgrade it.

that most likely never happen. this is a cool idea, dont get me wrong, having a moving base on a reefback would be nothing short of awesomesauce. im just trying to imagine the horror'mongous'nightmare'ish'ness trying to code this into being made possible lol
