so i was hangin around under the floating islands biome and i noticed i was getting hungry, so for some reason i decided to look for food around the underwater volcanoes under the islands. and i noticed a s##t tonne of fish get blasted by one of the volcanoes, and i thought "oh i wonder if they are cooked now" so i swooped in and grabbed one of the fishes and to my surprise they were cooked! but that one fish didnt fill me up so i swooped in and took too long to grab more and burned to death, and while i was burning to death i remembered that the save i was using is actually a hardcore save with alot of work put into it...
so the moral of the story is volcanoes are actually a weapon for fishes to bait you with hunger too die the same way their brethren died by cooking themselves to take revenge on the player for eating their brethren. and to be a vegan in the game.

I even set myself on fire in the lifepod starting a new game this morning. I just can't stop...
Quite do-able. Don't even need the starting rations or water. Make scanner, fins, knife, tank, builder then swim to the island and gnosh on some fruit. Scan the external and internal planter trays. Make a base there or eat your fill and take a few fruit back to plant. I plant some in my cyclops too. Very handy.

I had my second go at making a base above the smaller safe shallows geyser. Built a foundation and room inside and connectors coming out of it. To get thermal power but without the noise. This time I built the foundation a little too low, though. So when I went down the ladder to the foundation room to go outside and place my thermal reactor.... whammo, on fire and down to 15% health.

Maybe it's time for the devs to give us a new meal: cooked reaper (cutting it gives you a dozen cooked tasty meat portions)
thats if you havent burnt too death like i did lol
lol yeah gotta hate when that happens! its a good practice for when the Inactive lava zone becomes the active lava zone!
