@ Obraxis: maybe you will have a look on your own game trailer here:
and than tell me more about raise wrong expectations. I'm not alone with this. Maybe you can watch some videos on YT about the biggest creatures in Subnautica or have a look on the steam forum. Of course you will create expectation with artwork stuff and the Early Access trailer for examples.
@crane476: please read the post of Obraxis and than you'll find your answer.
To all others here:
I'm not here to find new friends or have a fanboy smalltalk with a cup of salt water and like every comment of the admins.
I'm here to be critical. This was a missing point for me in this forum since I bought the game.
I really like the basic idea (so I've understand the game) of a huge open underwater game with the free decision how to explore and play the game. With awesome very huge creatures. I also like the point that the players not considered how I kill this creature but how do I survive here without the opportunity to create powerful weapons.
But like Obraxis said: This game will be not Subnautica. And this is disappointing. IMHO the game should be a bit closer to the Subnautica in the trailer or artwork.
Not the Cyclops should be be biggest swimming thing.
Also I think to add a linear main story will not help to create immersion rather the opposite.
To be clear: I don't want a game developed for me. And of course i'm not an investor of the game. I'm a costumer. The real investors wants the money back. From you and me. From the costumers. Fast and much as possible.
If you don't like guys like me here in this forum you can ban me. It does no matter.
You know,i'm beginning to think all you're going to do here is whine. You whined about the O2 changes in the O2 thread and they have changed it.Then, you whine about the size of the SE and the SD in this thread and they told you,They'll change it.Then you whine about how they don't read feedback and how Subnautica will fail because its not exactly how you envisioned it and how you'll tell you're friends it's a bad game.
Not only are you threatening the Devs (with some pretty bad threats like "i'm not going to tell my friends to play it"), you are also talking down to the community and being disrespectful. There is a much better way of getting you'r point across than being rude to people and getting surprised when they are rude to you. It's their game. They also listen to the community because they changed the O2 system after they received all the negative feedback about it.Negative, but polite feedback. It might not be the game for you but personally,me and many others love it and the direction its going in.
Like Obraxis said, this game is still in Early Access and is bound to change. They have already stated that the SE is going to be way bigger than it currently is.Maybe next time before you flame on a forum,do some research.Heck, even asking someone politely or even wiki'ing it is enough to know that many of the problems you have with the game is going to get fixed in the near future.
I recommend that you go to the Subnautica Trello page and see what features and changes they want to add,so if you dislike the direction the game is going in,you can leave.
The community does not need, nor want a person who bashes a developer about his own game and is extremely rude.
And its by the customers to make the game successful. And when Subnautica will go on this way of player restrictions, small sizing, half-hearted implemented ideas and console related restrictions I will not recommend any of my friends to buy the game.
And to counteract this... I was able to use the Steam Library Sharing With Friends to get three of my close friends to try Subnautica.
All of them now have copies, so yay!
REALLY looking forward to seeing the new creatures implemented!
Please note that we have added a consequence for failure. Any contact with the warper will result in an unsatisfactory mark on your official testing record, followed by death.
I see what you did there.
Congratulations. You get cake. Please lie down and wait to be collected by the party escort stalker.

A buddy of mine saw the "Sidchicken is now playing Subnautica" message from Steam so many times that he broke down and bought the game. I got a text from him that was like "Goddamn it, I see you playing that all the time, I'm gonna have to try it now". And now I get those popups all the time.

I WANT A MAGIC OCEAN PONY TO RIDE IN THIS GAME!!!
IT BETTER HAVE SPARKLES!!
OR ELSE! I WILL NOT PLAY THIS POINTLESS GAME WHEN IT COMES OUT...IN...
August, was it? Yes...
I WILL NOT PLAY THIS STUPID WORTHLESS GAME IN AUGUST!
note to self: order floppy hat, big fake moustache and book "How To Speak With A French Accent" on Amazon in July so no one will recognize me playing Subnautica...
Why not make it so that they can grab the seamoth/cyclops front with their tentacles/shake them around a bit, and them throw them away, the emperor throwing further away due to his larger size and strength?

What kind of damage would that do to the cyclops? Half? Would it be slowed until repaired? Be a wild ride, no doubt!
I have mixed feelings with a sea dragon chasing a cyclops. Because from my driving experience with the cyclops in the pitch black lava zones I'd say that the cyclops is completely unable to avoid any sea dragon attack. Unlike the seamoth being able to escape a reaper even without defense, the cyclops controls don't allow any maneuvers that could evade anything that's not completely immobile. Not to talk about the inability to see in the dark with the cyclops (try yourself to drive to the lava castle!).
That would only leave two options for the cyclops. Hide in silence (turn off lights and engine) or have a seamoth-like perimeter defense system. Because otherwise the seadragon only needs a minimal damage to sink the cyclops, as its controls don't allow an escape and the sea dragon can attack endlessly.
After_Midnight, I don't want to be rude, but I want to tell you, your first problem was buying the game mostly because of the concept art. The main definition of concept art is:
"Concept art is a form of illustration used to convey an idea for use in films, video games, animation, comic books or other media before it is put into the final product. -Wikipedia."
Key words: convey an idea.
They main definition of idea is:
"a thought or suggestion as to a possible course of action. -Oxford Dictionaries."
Key word? Possible.
You see, the concept art is only there to give an idea of what could maybe happen, not what will. Going off the concept art is like going to a therapeutic doctor and completely, 100%, believe that he will heal you once you go to his office.
It just doesn't always go they way you thought it will.
I purchased the game after reading every single review on Steam. I knew I would love it. If something doesn't go right, I just wait for it to be changed. If it never changes, I live with it. If it is too annoying, then I stop playing the game completely. I don't whine on online forums or to the devs of said game.
The beauty of free speech is that even if no-one listens to you, you can keep trying without consequences.
Unless you are being extremely rude or berating everyone.
This forum is not Liberal. It doesn't just accept every opinion. If someone wrote "they should just stop making the game because I don't like it", that opinion would not be tolerated, because that opinion goes against the very thing that this forum was made for - exchanging ideas for the good of the game.
It saddens me that some people that don't like the direction a game is taking believe they have power over the developers, who were meant to make a game that would please both parties.

The first beatdown would cause a lot of cracks, but no/ 1 or 2 breaches.
Everything goes to poop if you get caught a second time, though...
