The Subnautica Development Trello shows what they're actually working on, and will give you a much better idea of what's coming.
@NamelessChaos I think they told us begin of april, that the scanner room update was delayed until mid april. Then they renamed it to machine update and delayed it to end of april. Now it almost looks like they delay again. Maybe they have still hope to get it done this week. To be pessimistic, they could have a problem they don't want to talk about. If I'm corrcet they already need a full month to get holomap zoom and rotation done or to progress/finish the scanner room in any way.
1. They said it would be delayed for this week("we'll ship it next week. I think you'll like it quite a bit too")
2. In trello you can see they intend to add it: https://trello.com/c/sBxVmc1e/5631-machine-update-website
As zetachron correctly said, I dislike the total lack of information when they postpone something.
And for Zeta: I know the changes, still thanks. Scanner Room is something that I thought comes later since they are late the 2nd time with a content update. Last one was the Intro update where even they themselfes said doesn`t had much new content elsewhere. 2 Oculus updates later we are waiting for a 2nd late content update now. Sigh.
Not even the why is important, just telling "Here, we are not ready yet." is much nicer than letting everyone in the dark. Or am I so wrong with this?
And then again if you dont create expectations you dont have to apologize for anything. Also, when someone apologizes too often then you create unecessary frustrations for failing deliver over and over ..... see where im going with this? soon you find yourself in a neverending loop.
Saying the absolute minimum about anything is a strategy employed by alot if not the vast majority of organizations/companies. Is that the best strategy? perhaps, perhaps not. no matter what you do or say some peoples gonna get pissed/frustrated/call it whatever u want, so thats prob why silence is golden as the saying goes

4 rods for the nuclear reactor
the bioreactor has a container and takes rotten food
(Also I have seen that they added cameras to the cyclops now it realy feals like a submarine)
So I discovered two, no three things about the scanner room.
1) It seems really short range.
2) The range increasing things don't seem to... range increase...
3) I can't really figure out the how or why of this thing as it currently stands.
I mean what's this thing for? And before you say "to mark hard to find resources to dig up". Not only do none of those actually matter yet... even when they do, that's not actually enough a role for this thing.
According to Trello this is ready quite some time, but since they postpone more and more content updates....
They already worked on that before they skipped the first content update.
In my view, in order for them to "postpone" something, there would first have to be an "official" release date. That means something firmer than "We're hoping it will be XX" or "We're trying to get it out by XX", which is all I've seen them say. I don't view the roadmap as an official schedule of... well, anything really. Yes it can be frustrating waiting for cool stuff to be ready for stable release, but that's the nature of game development, and it's something you have to accept as an early access user.
Even changing their set Dates to tba would be better than that. "Ah, they`re not ready for it yet, so they changed it."
I'd rather want to see a cyclops docking station than cell rechargers.
The cyclops cams now turn the cyclops into a tourist submarine that allows tight maneuvers in the deep reef or elsewhere. Good! But where it utterly fails:
- allowing the submarine to outmaneuver or escape leviathans (it can't be controlled to do that kind of maneuvers)
- allowing any kind of navigation in the pitch black of the deep lava zone (no light controls or cams will help there: tested)
What to think about it? Well, it's far better than the nothing before. But I wouldn't count on player reviews that aren't fans when the game gets released with that kind of sub driving. To summarize: Still no fun to drive this duck of the ocean.Oh, and I found out that the cam views are missing the cockpit displays like proximity alert and depth indication, so you're always forced to switch. Another thing is that you can cycle through the cams, but the cockpit view is outside the cycle. It would be better to include the cockpit view inside the cycle - much easier to switch views - all that's missing now are the cockpit depth and proximity indicators in the cams view.
They need a month now to increase the range and couldn't get it done so far - weird. Then the speed increase. Made a poll and no one really needed it. Speed isn't logical. I mean I could wait for the resource info if the range is ok because time doesn't matter that much. A better upgrade would be a speedy realtime bioscan that can locate certain creatures, but that should be called a bioscan upgrade. And this bioscan isn't coming.
Right now the range is about 100m for resources - not useful. The cams range is 300-500m, where they completely fail at max distance. That's the acceptable part. I don't get why the range upgrades should stack and aren't like the seamoth pressure upgrades. These stacked until the devs realized making a mark 1-3 system was better (that also allows increasing difficult recipes to achieve the improvement - very important). So why not do the same with range upgrades:
- std scanner: 200m range, allows to scan metals only
- multispectral scanner: 500m range, allows to scan all hard component materials (corals, quartzes, metals, ...)
- long time resonance scanner: 300m range, allows to scan everything that is immobile, very slow
- far range magnetic scanner: 1000m range to scan only magnetic metals
- impulse scanner: 200m range, allows to scan fast swimming creatures of medium size
- biomass scanner: 600m range, allows to scan leviathans and big biostructures, very slow updates
- system alarm: alarm if 1 target of the scanned type is getting into detection range
- inter system link: allow other stations or the cyclops to link to another scanner room
- internal system scanner: locate all base breaches and display flood status together with base display on holomap
- advanced sys scanner: display all functional base elements and allow to switch them on/off from the holomap
Of course you can have only 1 external scanner type at a time while the alarm and internal scanners are additional. So you must decide which type to scan for. Each type has advantages and disadvantages. Each type needs a hard to find recipe of its own.OK, now why do we need the scanner room: Simply to trace hard to find resources - some are hidden like the crash powder, while others are buried beneath the surface (uranium for the reactors), some might simply lie in a small crevice undetected so far. And of course a quicker way to get all that quartz or metal for building better stuff. Additionally as seen above it could be used as a creature defense, location or alert mechanism. Or even be used to display the own base as a holomap and locate all base breaches or more. But only the devs know if that ever gets into the game as they seem to have troubles with even the simplest range upgrades.
They didn't set a date. That's my point. The Roadmap trello is a guess. They say that up front. Expecting that anything on it will happen "on-time" is wishful thinking. Nothing on there is a promise or guarantee that it will be done when it says, or even make it into the game at all. You're much better off ignoring it altogether and just looking at the development trello, which again, is the stuff they're actually doing.
The Dev Trello has much stuff in it what they already could`ve put out since they WERE already late with a content update. This is just the 2nd time. My guess is they went late because they added oculus in. Since that you can`t trust the "trello-dates" anymore. And as said, just a simple post that they`re not ready yet would`ve shut me up.
He don't want to hear any excuses for the delay of updates or how development work.
He just want a message of the devs that the updates are delayed. That all.
Whats wrong with it?
They don`t get it Midnight, still thanks. xD
Be patient.
Yanno, they might be working their asses off for this one to get it done before the deadline... but who knows?
One thing for sure: they are hella busy atm, so please, like I've said, be patient.
With you and your likings repeating that question over and over again, up on this forum, it hardly could go unnoticed.
So yes, I know, but I prefer to stay patient and wait until everything's well prepared for such a big update.
Again - it's not late, because there is no real schedule. Therefore a post apologizing for lateness is unnecessary. If you bought the game in early access expecting that there would be a clockwork schedule of updates... you were expecting too much.
