We do plan on putting some merchandise together in the near future. Not sure what exactly we'll have up there yet, but at the very least there will be T shirts.

Uh... I'm not exactly copyright savvy, but is it okay (and legal) for these two to make money off Subnautica like that? Sure it's not stolen art or game assets per se, but still they used the game's title and copied the visual style almost exactly. Feels very wrong to me.

Because it is wrong. And the image on the phone case is obviously a peeper, the link refers to it as such so it is stolen art. Having said that, the case looks great, there is obviously a market for the merchandise.

Here's a small list of ideas if you need them.

Scale Models (Mainly the large stuff like Reapers, Reefbacks, the subs) in the more common modelling scales like HO, O, N (Would love to make a scene of a Reaper attacking a passenger train over the ocean). For larger scales you could use the smaller fishies.
Plushes (I need my Cutefish plush)
Keychains (Maybe the edible fishes)
Posters
CDs
A model of the Aurora
Peeper and Oculus night lights
Bath toys
Water guns focused on the Stasis Rifle, Propulsion, and Repulsion cannons
Mousepads
Crash Water Balloons
Floater Beach Balls

There are so many ideas here that I kinda hope we don't see them until a month or two after V1.0 is out, otherwise my bank account will break
