revolutionary idea - fall damage

i believe you all understand the gravity of the situation...
but if you don't, put simply you can jump of the mountaintop observatory on the floater island without dying so, for about 50-60M the player has some solid legs or something...
i think adding fall damage would stop people taking the easy way down, and make them admire the islands a lil more.

That is going to be extremely hard to implement because the main focus of the game is underwater. The force of gravity is less felt underwater than overwater. That means that the devs are going to have to program a change of gravity feeling when you're out of water, and that's not only difficult, but also expensive in terms of memory space.

For what it's worth, there's a Trello card for "land movement physics". It's planned for July, but it's also on the chopping block.

This would be realistic - but it's a very minor thing for gameplay. I think it should happen, but very low priority.

Why not state that the planet has relatively low gravity?

they still have gravity though, the issue is the distance of the fall roughly speakking the gravity is stilll 1G ish (i cant legit measure it) but that means that it would still do fairly decent damage after 3 m falling down.

Alternately, if you don't want to have to implement fall damage don't place goal objects on precarious hard to reach locations. Blaze those trails a bit better on the island so there is less danger of falling off, especially at night. Maybe include scannable handrail objects? Use some of those indigenous glowy plants to line the path so that you can see it better in the dark, ya know? (I'd love to be able to do that in real life)

It just seems to me that anyone that puts an observatory on top of a mountain should be able to make a decent path to it from the main living area... (which needs beds as well btw.)
