  Actually, the devs had a google doc saying about an idea of scanning warpers and using their abilities to create a teleporter that can take you from base to base.

  I don't hate the idea but the map isn't huge and being able to warp between bases would make it seem even smaller.
  
  In a seamoth you can cross the map fairly quickly. Reapers are the only danger and they can either be avoided or dealt with using the shocker thingy.
