HELP!!! Where did my game go?

I am hoping against hope that I didn't just lose all of my hard work.
3 days ago my HDD crashed and I had to start over from scratch. After I reinstalled windows, I started bringing my games back. I figured that this being a steam game, had some sort of server storage, or cached saves, or ANYTHING. Alas, I went to login just now and the only option I had was to start a new game.
PLEASE tell me somewhere in the etherwebs there is a saved version of my game....PLEASE!!!
