Preferred sea base size

I've watched quite a few youtubers who play Subnautica, and some of them build really HUGE sea bases. Mostly in creative, but some also in survival. I was like that too, but I've found lately that smaller bases are more efficient. Especially since I don't keep fishtanks in them. I also expand them a little bit if I feel the need to do so, but not too much.
How about everyone else? Large? Small? Somewhere in between or expand as you need it?

Yes because in Subnautica, unlike real life, smaller is indeed much better
I have started a third base in the sparse reef. Tucked into what I would call a small alcove. Has some "galleries" with the eye plants? Give off a soft glow. The look like light bulbs stuck on stalks. So in the almost circular depression to the rear left side facing I have placed a foundation to the wall. Then stuck a corridor section into the wall. Another foundation. Another corridor. A "T" then 2 more corridor sections 1 at each arm. 3 solar panels. All almost hidden from overhead view. Everything but the first corridor and panels being enclosed by rock.
One main room for fabricators, chargers, and storage.
Two, two-story rooms for alien containment.
One "bedroom" with a bed, water filtration machine and excessive decorations.
One moonpool.
One observatory for growing non-fish food.
And preferably, a corridor between every module, for decoration.
