Preferred sea base size

I've watched quite a few youtubers who play Subnautica, and some of them build really HUGE sea bases. Mostly in creative, but some also in survival. I was like that too, but I've found lately that smaller bases are more efficient. Especially since I don't keep fishtanks in them. I also expand them a little bit if I feel the need to do so, but not too much.

How about everyone else? Large? Small? Somewhere in between or expand as you need it?

I only build as big as I need to, anything beyond that is a waste of resources and energy. If there were more useful decoration/items, I might splurge a little, but in Survival, efficiency is the name of the game. My only real concession to luxury is always putting my wife's picture in game in the picture frame. I *have* built a couple of larger bases, to test ideas (like having a Zoo) but smaller is much better, for me.

Yes because in Subnautica, unlike real life, smaller is indeed much better

1 cross section 2 or 3 t's, and 4 corridor sections is as big as I get. Plus foundations. 4 solar panels are ample to run fabricator 1 battery charger and 1 power cell charger. I have a second base close to Aurora on a small ledge right above the red grass. The difference being 3 power cell chargers instead of one. Layout is slightly different, but essentially the same structural components.

I have started a third base in the sparse reef. Tucked into what I would call a small alcove. Has some "galleries" with the eye plants? Give off a soft glow. The look like light bulbs stuck on stalks. So in the almost circular depression to the rear left side facing I have placed a foundation to the wall. Then stuck a corridor section into the wall. Another foundation. Another corridor. A "T" then 2 more corridor sections 1 at each arm. 3 solar panels. All almost hidden from overhead view. Everything but the first corridor and panels being enclosed by rock.

I don't usually go huge, but I'd call my bases sizeable.
One main room for fabricators, chargers, and storage.
Two, two-story rooms for alien containment.
One "bedroom" with a bed, water filtration machine and excessive decorations.
    One moonpool.
One observatory for growing non-fish food.
And preferably, a corridor between every module, for decoration.
