Cant Change Resolution Please Help!!

Ok so I play this game on Steam big picture mode on my tv... when I go to play the game on my pc it allows me to have 1920x1080 resolution... But when I then plug my tv In to play it on my tv it will only allow a max resolution of 800x600? Why?
When I click apply to the 1920x1080 option it resets it back to 800x600... So I click 1920 again apply... It won't stick with the resolution 1920?
It worked before now it don't... It's to blurry at low resolution it hurts my eyes please help
And no don't ask if I have updates my graphics drivers I'm sick of that question.. and no my pc is fine it's a £1500 PC it can run it everything worked fine yestoday...

I work in IT and everyone always claims their system is fine. 90% of the time it's an issue with their drivers or a piece of software they are running, and they'll fight me everytime until I completely prove to them it's their PC or I fix their PC for them. It might be frustrating for you that everyone always points at your PC, but on the opposite end, everyone always says it's not their PC. You also need to remember we don't know your knowledge level or what you checked, and the price of the PC doesn't mean it is now invincible to software glitches, driver issues, or configuration problems.
So let's be productive about it and open minded.
First why don't you list everything you've tried to do.
Your PC specifications, current driver version of your video card, and people might be able to help you.
Sometimes it could be a bug with a driver you have that doesn't like an update to the game, or something else configured and edited your drivers.
When you plug in your TV and don't run steam big picture, or any other game, are you getting the resolution of 1920x1080 for it in windows?
Select properties
Select Set launch options
copy this line: -screen-width 1680 -screen-height 1050
Change the numbers to your TV resolution
