so i recently updated into the new edition on the xbox and when i started a new world to honor this occasion. I went through the intro got out of my lifepod and cannon balled into the water. But when entering the water instead of swimming and starting my game, the character sank to the bottom and was only able to jump. The game's physics are broken and its like there isnt an ocean anymore, i jump, have oxygen (even while under the water), and cant return to the lifepod or do much of anything. It happens in all of the gamemodes and i cant play subnautica until it is fixed.

This has happened to me a couple of times as well. It does not help you when starting the game but when I built my bases I always put in a ground access point as entering the base fixes this bug.
Dieing also fixes the bug resetting you inside the last base. Attacking acid mushrooms is a easy option as the sea creatures do not seem to attack in this bug. You will lose any resources you have so drop them first.

Hope this helps, future updates should fix this problem.

It happens here and there for me as well. The only things you can do is get back to your lifepod and using the hatch or the kill or spawn console commands.

I can tell exactly what is wrong: The game thinks you're in an EXOSUIT. You may notice that your footsteps are metal clangs even when walking in sand? That's why you can only walk slowly and you're not using oxygen.

Luckily this can be easily fixed. Just go through any hatch into your base and it will teleport you back outside, but with your normal diver physics/movement restored to normal.

If you don't have a base yet then just console cheat some stuff (MADLOOT works) and build 1 x Corridor piece and stick 1 x Hatch into it, just so you've got something you can enter into to trigger the auto-fix.
