Anyway, you must be able to run cs retail, or hl. If you run these games ok, you will be fine, a very old computer can run ns. ( i don't think Xp can run hl without a patch)
A good connection is helpful too, & addtional space.
I found this mod last week, from pcgamer uk (the orginal pcgamer) but it seems like it's been running a while.
in a 24 player server, i would suggest a 500mhz with a geforce/radeon based graphic card for smooth performance
Natural Selection was released to the public, on 2nd November of 2002 if memory serves. Correct me if I'm wrong.
halloween
was when NS was released
850mhz PIII
160 mb ram
and *sigh* a
64 mb Voodoo5500 PCI
please don't laugh about the Voodoo <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
In online games I usually get 40-80 FPS which varies greatly with the amount of action on screen. Also I think that this game takes a little bit more processing power than CS and HL because of the higher poly count models and robust particle engine.
I also have tested a K6-2 450mhz based pc with a tnt2u ( and one with a Hercules kyro2 graphics card) running windows ME, in lower resoloutions (800x600 or below) these also run fine and I have run a 12 player lan server from one of these too (although it suffered memory leaks).
So if you've bought your PC in the last 5 years you should be ok. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
I have The Sims and it works fine on my XP machine. It kinda stops playing the sound from time to time but then it catches up to itself.

Of course don't me discourage you from buying a better system and a P3-850 is definately a step up, but that means a new motherboard as well. How much is this setting you back? Because if you dont mind amd chips I am sure you can get an athlon1800XP/motherboard for under $150 maybe even a P4 near for that too. Shop around, and be bloody careful of second hand bargains.
