  It's not a glitch. You need to scan the rooms in the abandoned bases in order to build one.

  Fun times..i never set foot on the island till much later. Kinda forces you in a direction... if you want a risky advice find the propulsion gun early..god i hate those crabs.

  Well i currently can't get it in Hardcore mode due to a bug or glitch ... So i do think it's possible to get it in other modes but i could be wrong.

  Oh. I didn't try it in any other modes discarding creative. Didn't have the time to test it in each.

  Hardcore the only way to go...The sheer rush of dancing with 4 sandsharks and dodging bitters while scanning that piece you need. the no warning on the air left while reaching the surface in those last 3 seconds..the darkness of what lurks around a corner as something screams and its not a bone shark..yeah the pure rush and cry of F!%%@!! when you utterly fail. ya!! no god mode, no second chance it's you against everything that ball of water has to throw at you.

  So I just tried this in 4 spots...the three abandoned bases on the Island and the Heat Source base and I could not scan a general room at all. It's gone from my build list as well, and nothing I try will allow me to scan it. Thoughts?

  Yes the Jelly Shroom Cave. Has those big fanged eel things... Between the island and that one I was assuming one of them would be scannable.
